A Different Sort of Love(part 7)

Start from the beginning

When we entered the store, and I think Kently did this just because of Christa, she threw her hands in the air and shouted "HELLO MY PEOPLE! BE GLAD FOR I AM HERE!!,". Everyone looked, but that didn't slow Kently down she raced through the store picking up everything she wanted. Slamming it down on the counter when she passed it. When she was finally done she dug through her back and took out her points card and coupons, which flooded the rest of the counter. When she was done she had eight bags full of shirts, pants, CD, lip rings, necklaces, and everything else, and she only paid six dollars.

I felt his hand on my shoulder and looked back to see it was Lucas. "Hey fancy meeting you here," he said eyeing my dress bag.

"Yeah, Lucas fancy that," I said, wondering how we always bumped into each other.

"Oh you two should talk alone. We'll just be over here," said Christa grabbing Kently by the arm and tugging her over to a bench, still in listening distance.

I rolled my eyes at them and turned back to see Lucas still staring at my dress bag. "So you shop at Hot topic?," I asked him, seeing as how he didn't seem like the type to.

"Oh no, the only guys that go in there are freaks. My brothers in there, I'm just waiting. So what's the dress for?,"

I didn't like the fact that he basically called me and some of my friends freaks but answered his question anyways, "Its for home coming. Adam asked me,"

His eyes grew wide and his facial expression became flustered. "Oh h-he did......did he," he stuttered and started rubbing the back of his neck "Well maybe I'll see you there,"

"Yeah maybe so," I said avoiding eye contact. After a couple moments of awkward silence I finally broke it "I've got to go, but I'll see you on Monday okay?,"

"Yeah see you," he said in a flat voice, and I could tell he was hardly listening.

But right when I started to walk away he asked me a question "Alina are you and Adam dating?,"

My eyes grew wider, but I tried to stay calm and answered him simply "I don't know," and walked over to Kently and Christa. And together we left the mall.

That night my mother was again home early so I told her about my day with Adam, and about how he asked me to home coming. I tried on my dress for her, and then she made dinner. We sat at the dining room table in silence, the only sound was us chewing and breathing.

Until she broke the silence "So, are you and Adam serious?,"

I nearly choked on my food. I had in no way expected that, even when I was younger she never was interested in me and boys. "Um, well, I don't really know if there's anything to be serious about,"

"Honey, this boy obviously likes you. If you don't like him back you better tell him. There's nothing cruel than sending mix messages,"

She was right. I had to make sure I liked Adam before I didn't anything I would regret. I had, yes, kissed him, but that could have been an impulse. I had an idea, and I felt stupid for not thinking of it early. I had to just spend more time with him. Once I thought of that it took me all my wheel power not to face palm myself.

Then my mother brought up another problem, that I had to face. "So what about that boy Lucas, I thought you liked him,"

I spent the rest of the night telling my mother the same answers over and over again, "I don't know," and "maybe," all night. When I finally got into my room I locked my door and sat on my bed. I picked up my phone and saw that there were three unread texts. I opened them and started to smile.

The first one was from Adam: HI SO YEAH, JUST SITTING HERE THINKING ABOUT STUFF (U) *cough cough* AND YEAH TEXT ME BACK WHEN U GET THIS.

The second one was from my mother telling me she would be home early.
