I hear the loud ringing of the doorbell from all the way upstairs on the other side of the house. I rush down to the front door, eager to see who is behind it.

I open it and find my girlfriend standing there in the entrance with her head bowed and hood up to protect her from the rain. The droplets run down her face and mix with her tears as she looks at me with love and a hint of something else.

Regret.

"What are you doing here Aarin?" I ask her, curious to know why she is here at this time of day, when her plane takes off in an hour from JFK Airport.

"I had to say goodbye to you one last time." She replies.

She pushes past the old oak doorway and pulls me into a tight embrace. She leans back a little before she collides her mouth with mine. Our kiss turns from passion to lust. We are pressed against each other in every way possible and our hearts beat as one.

"I love you to the moon and back Haley." She says to me. I look at her straight in the eyes. Those same hazel eyes I first met when we started dating over three years ago in high school. I state the ending to the same statement that we have been saying to each other since we first started to date.

"Lesbihonest, I love you to the sun and back again."

We both laugh and smile for the last time together before she leaves for California for her dream college.

She has tears in her eyes as some begin to well up in mine. Her eyes hold nothing but pain when we say our final goodbyes. I go back to my bedroom and start to sob my eyes out in the corner of my room next to my bed, knowing I will probably never see her again within this lifetime.

A thought occurs to me only moments later.

I pull out a very small box black box from inside my dresser drawer. I open it and a small gold and single diamond ring glances up at me from the small white pillow.

More tears slide down my face, some landing on the ring.

Aarin's perspective:

I leave Haley's doorstep, my head bent to hide my red puffy eyes and my tear stained cheeks. A loose tear rolls down my face at just the thought of her.

I pull a small box from my pocket. I open it to see a small white gold ring nestled perfectly in the middle of its velvet pillow.

I open my car door. Hesitating about wether I should turn over the engine or stay here with my one true love.

I shake my head, clearing my thoughts of my perfect girlfriend and leave.
