[1] New start, how hard can it be?

The deafening screech of my alarm clock pulled me from sleep, forcing me to tear myself from my fortress of fluffy pillows and warmth and drag my phone across my threadbare floor, confusedly pressing every button and randomly poking at the screen of my iPhone glaring in my face. Finally, with a quick swipe right and two failed attempts at putting in my pass code blinded by the sleep conglomerating on my eyes, the blaring music stopped.

I rubbed the sleep off of my eyes and allowed them to focus, quickly glancing at the time read on my phone.

"5:55AM... that gives me an hour and 40 minutes." I muttered to myself, pulling my dressing gown on from the floor, slipping the phone into a pocket and stumbled over my floor-based mattress, not yet in possession of a new bed as the move simply didn't allow me to bring my old one. I rotated my door handle, hearing a quick click and let my door swing open naturally.

I tiptoed across the landing, trying not to wake my mum or dad up as I passed their bedroom door and made my way downstairs, still relatively unfamiliar with my new house. Knowing that the kettle was out and we had a few mugs washed ready for such an event, I pressed the already-full kettle switch on, hearing the heating filament slowly rumble to life. Absent-mindedly throwing a spoonful of coffee and 2 or 3 spoonfuls of sugar into my mug, I rested it on the kitchen counter and went into my living room, suddenly greeted my both my cats and a very excitable puppy.

Throwing myself on my sofa, I lifted the the TV remote and turned on the TV, turning the volume way down and changing the channel to 103. (A/N it's ITV HD for all those UK peeps who don't watch tv.) A very brightly dressed presenter sat at a desk with the God-forbidden Piers Morgan droning on about teenage heath and how we don't care about exams forced me to pull my phone out of my pocket and check my notifications.

David Duffy: Hey, I managed to finish that dr... David Sent 2 Photos.

'Well my night was uneventful, apart from David of course. And I forgot to put my phone on charge!' I thought, opening Facebook and scrolling down my feed.

After replying to David and seeing various shitstorms, unpopular opinions, fanart, furry art and advertisements for 10 minutes, I decided to go and finish making my coffee. It was at this point that my dog decided to run directly into two walls and walk his.... unpleasant mess... all over the floor. After groaning multiple times and heaving whilst trying to silently run across my house with some of Alfie (the doggo)'s mess in a tissue to flush it, I managed to clean everything up and drink my coffee in peace.

Of course, there was something missing from my phone. A message from one of the most important people in my life. The one person I could trust with anything and everything. He's also the person i've had a raging crush on for the past two years, even before I came out as gay. His name is Alastair. Unfortunately, he was the most painful sacrifice I had to make when moving here. Our school was knocked down so we had to find another, and the local school here was too far from our old place, so a 25 mile move and a sad goodbye to Alastair later, i'm here.

Al is a great kid! I've known him since primary school, but it was the end of the last school year was when we moved, meaning I had to spend the six week holiday without him. We've messaged a few times, but he didn't seem too bothered about saying goodbye. He probably doesn't care but I certainly do, considering I've wanted to be a lot more than be friends with him for the past two years.
