Laughter

Josh's P.O.V.

I fell asleep real quick and then it ended up being the next day and I had to go back to class.

I was kind of scared now.

My whole entire life I haven't spoke. I last talked when I was four years old, after that my dad would beat me.

My dad had then gotten into a drunk car crash, in which he was the one drunk, my mom who was pregnant was in the car and she had died.

My dad ended up going to jail and I got put into foster care. People would constantly make fun of how I wasn't able to speak, so I decided to never learn.

I walked to class and people were talking and laughing. I've never laughed, at least from what I remember. I never remembered laughing once in my life. I always wondered how it felt, to laugh. I mean yeah I smile and my life isn't horrible. I enjoy it. I mean I am still leaving. I guess I just like the whole idea that maybe one day I won't be like this. In a constant state of silence.

I sat down and grabbed my book out again. It was a sport magazine. I always loved getting caught up on everything football.

"So you like football?" Simon said as he sat down.

I felt myself start to smile and blush. Stop that Josh.

I nodded my head as he smiled.

"Maybe you could play with my friends and I? It doesn't matter if you aren't that good, I have this friend Vik he absolutely sucks." He said laughing.

He looked so happy. I loved the way that when he laughed he would lift up his hand and put it close to his face but didn't. He had these beautiful defined cheeks that had the cutest dimples.

I just lifted my hand and gave him a so so.

"Is there a reason why you don't speak? Are you mute?" He asked as the teacher walked in and started his lecture.

I actually felt saved by the bell.

The class had ended and Simon grabbed my shoulder before I could get up.

I looked at him and he just gave me a look.

"Look, I won't bug you on the whole no speaking thing, but I would love to get to know you." He said smiling.

I looked down and started to contemplate it all. I've never met someone like Simon. He seems to actually care. He actually wants to get to know me.

"Please, I promise I won't bite." He said smiling.

I nodded my head yes. I don't know if that was the worst mistake and a good choice.

"Okay then, let's go to my room. I don't have a roommate." He said as we walked down and walked to his room.

"So what are you going to college for?" He asked as he looked at me.

I didn't know what to do or say.

"How about I ask you yes or no questions? Five questions for the walk?" He asked as I nodded my head and he started to ask.

"So I know that your first name is Josh, do you have any siblings?"

I nodded my head no and he kept going.

"Are you going to visit parents over break?"

I shook my head no, because I would have no one to go visit.

"Ok, good because I don't either. Do you play video games?"

I nodded my head and smiled making him laugh.

"Ok that's good. I love video games so that is kind of a deal breaker for me. I guess I'll ask, do you play FIFA?"

I nodded my head and we got closer to his dorm.

"Ok final question since we are here, do you wanna go against me on FIFA?" He said smiling hilariously.

I just nodded my head excitedly and he put in the game and we started to play.

"Millwall? Really?" He said giving me a look.

I wrote down what I was going to say.

"I've been supporting them since I was a kid. And anyway you picked Leeds."

"I know I picked Leeds, I've been supporting them since I was kid."

We started to play and it was the most fun I had in a long time.

"How did you beat me?" He said shocked as he dropped the controller.

The weirdest thing had happened, I started to laugh.

Right away I stopped and my whole entire body felt cold.

"Josh?" Simon said as I got up and ran out of the room.

I felt sick, I felt horrible. Something was wrong.
