Chapter 1

Ring! Ring! Ring!

6:20 am

The sound of my alarm filled the room. Today was the first day of my freshman year at River Valley High, home of the Jaguars.

I was a bit scared of high school, but I was also ready for any obstacle that was to be thrown my way.

I stared at the clock for a minute before I decided to wake up my two younger brothers, who were starting 5th and 6th grade.

My name is Kaylin Elise Brown. I'm 14 years old, 5'6, nice body, short, natural hair, straight A student, and not much of a people's person. I take all honors academic classes and I've always been at least top 8 in my class.

I decided to be very plain on my first day. My intentions weren't to impress anyone, at all. I wore a black lace T-shirt with a teal tank top underneath and skinny leg blue jeans. By the time I did my hygiene, my hair, it was 6:45- time to walk to the bus stop.

My little brothers were ready and I must admit, they looked stunning! Soon, they'd get to the age that appearance didn't matter- like me!

So, here it is. The first day. Time for those fake "hey girl's", and those even faker "I missed you's" I never understood why people flexed so much, like I never changed my phone number or location.

Once on the bus, I popped in my earphones.
