Just a daily life......

I really hate waking up; the sound of the screaming alarm clock pounds my head, as I slowly navigate my hand towards my morning enemy. "Hems wake up!" my dad pseudo-screams, "yes, I'm coming!" I mumble, after that exhilarating wakeup call; who could sleep? So I blearily opened my eyes and trudged across my shared bedroom to the bathroom. I slowly began my morning ritual.

"Mom, I can't finish the last dosa." I mock plead; "No I won't let you go until you finish!" my mom affirmed. "But, there isn't enough time!" I countered "You could have finished by now." She says while shaking her head, so, I do what I do every day; stuff my face with all of the food and down it with water until it's all finished. As I get up to wash my hands, I remember that I have music today! "Yes!" I think as I run up the stairs, head straight to my side of the closet in my room, I grab my tenor saxophone and run downstairs.

Ah school; good old school there it is, in all its glory Thorn Park middle school! I say bye to my dad as we quickly arrive at the drop off section and step out of the car. The rich aroma of morning dew hits just as I climb out of the car, the smell of grass, water and rain brings a deep sense of calmness within me. You're over exaggerating Hems. "Well, let's get a move on." I mutter to myself as I walk to the grade 8 door. "Hmm, where is Cody?" Maybe Cody isn't here, hmm he is probably still walking. I look around to see if any of my friends have arrived yet; nope none of them, it's probably because I came really early. Gosh darn it now I have to wait like a 100 years, not really more like 7 minutes but yeah. Finally, I run towards Cody. "I have been waiting for a 100 years, you're really slow you know that right?" "Wow, since you're that old and you are still here; does that mean you flunked 100 times?" Cody jokes "Yes, obviously I flunked a 100 times and still look like a 8th grader." I reply sarcastically, "I wonder when the bell is going to ring, so we can get out of this frigid cold." I say to no one in particular. Right on time the bell rings just as I asked the question; So I walk over to the doors and prepare myself to get pushed all the way inside until I get to the stairs. Which are thankfully very close to the doors.

"Hems wait up!" I turn around and try to locate the person who yelled my name, oh it was Callisto my locker partner but I call him Cal. "Hey Cal, how's the morning crowd?" I ask as he comes "Neat and organized as always." he replies sarcastically. That's weird Cal's never sarcastic that's only me. "Anyways... what's your big plan for the science fair?" He quizzes me; "Nothing really, I don't have any idea, I'm thinking of not doing it for this time." His mouth drops and forms an oval "What?" I say "I mean...." He starts "Well... You've done the science fair last year and the one last semester; so it's weird for you to not do one!" He finishes, "I have to do this math test competition thing, so I don't have time to set up an experiment and research, and I only participated in the science fair last year because I came late and I could boost my science mark that way before the end of the year!" I retort, "Hems are you serious?", asked someone behind me. "What, who......" I start, then I turn around "Oh its Laila" "Yeah it's me who else did you think it was?" Countered Laila "I mean......." I start again "But seriously you're not going to do it?" She says as she cuts me off, dang I didn't expect that everyone would get mad at me if I didn't do one science fair. I look at both of them with accusing eyes "Did you guys plan on working with me or something?" I ask "Well......." They both start "I knew it!" I say triumphantly "And the answer is no." I finish as I rapidly start working on opening my locker.

"Brrring!" The bell rings, just as the rest of our class makes it into the room. "Alright guys let's get right into it!" Mr. Price cheers enthusiastically, while he starts writing on the board speedily, "Okay so who knows what this means?" He asks while scanning the room for a hand. "What is that?" I think as I look at the board which reads "Which number is equivalent to 34/32?" I quickly realize the answer, and as I was about to raise my hand, Arak's hand shot up! Huh I haven't seen Arak that enthusiastic about math before.......... "Ok Arak what is the answer and how did you get it?" Mr. Price quizzes "Ok the answer is 117 and I got there because 3(to the power of 4)/3(to the power of 2) is 81/3 and if you do that you get 27" He replies looking smug as he looks at everyone. "Anyone else?" Mr. Price ponders "I think we should let Hems have a try." Cody says, "So Hems what is the answer that you have calculated?" Mr. Price requests "I got 9 because 3(to the power of 4)/3(to the power of 2) is 3*3*3*3/3*3 or 81/9 and if you divide those numbers you get 9." I explain. Then, Mr. price requests "Everyone who do you agree with Arak or Hems?" Raise your hands for Arak." None went up. "Raise your hands for Hems." All but Arak's hand went up. "Then we are in agreement, completely ignoring Arak, nice job Hems, and does his explanation make sense to everybody?" "Yeah.... Yep.... Sure.... I got it..." A few people mumble "Well I'll explain anyway!" Mr. Price cheers.
