Chapter 2

Beth was busy organising the caterer's, when Morwenna came flying through the kitchen.

"Mor, stop!" Beth shouted.

She skidded to a halt just in the nick of time, as a young guy carrying a box of glasses walked in through the back door. He blushed furiously at seeing the auburn haired beauty standing in front of him, and fumbled the box in his hands.

"I'm so sorry, can I help you with that?" Morwenna said in a breathy voice.

"N..n...no, I've got it thanks." He stuttered.

"I swear, you're going to kill someone one day, if you carry on racing through the house as if your backside was on fire." Beth exclaimed.

Morwenna turned to face her mother, her face beaming. "I said I was sorry, I'm just so excited about the party."

Beth gave her daughter an appraising stare. Her heart swelled with love as she took in the sheer beauty of the woman that she was becoming. Her gaze stopped on the emerald necklace and she looked at her daughter in confusion.

"Where did you get that necklace?"

"Jory gave it to me, just now." She twirled it in her fingers.

"He was here? I didn't see him come in."

"You wouldn't have, he took his normal route and came in through my window." Morwenna chuckled.

"I'm going to have words with that P....person." Beth quickly changed what she was going to say, when she realised the young man with the glasses, was still standing in the doorway.

He had a strange faraway look on his face, as he continued to stare at Morwenna.

"You can put that box on the kitchen table, young man." His head twitched as he realised Beth was talking to him.

"Sorry, I wasn't sure where you wanted it." He muttered as he placed the box carefully on the table. He turned and headed out of the door, but not before he stole another glance at Morwenna.

"I think you have an admirer." Beth chuckled.

"Who?" Morwenna asked. As always, she was totally oblivious to the affect she had on men.

Beth shook her head. "I wonder sometimes if you were swapped at birth, you can't possibly be my daughter."

"I'm not sure how to take that." She stood with her hands on her hips, glaring at her mother.

"I suppose I should be happy that you're not out chasing every guy in town. But you don't seem to have any interest in them at all." Beth sighed.

"I have a lot of friends that are guys. I've just never come across one I wanted as more than a friend. I thought you would be pleased that I'm still a virgin."

Liam had just stepped in through the back door as Morwenna spoke proudly of her virginity. He raised his hands in distress and started backing away.

"Whoa, I so did not need to hear that."

"Good grief Liam, since when did you become a prude?" Beth couldn't stifle a laugh.

"I thought it was every father's duty to protect his daughter's vir......"

"Stop right there." Liam cut her off, with a wave of his hand.

"It goes without saying, that I would bust the balls of any guy who laid a hand on you Morwenna. I just don't need to have the intimate details of your....your." He waved his hands around, desperately struggling to find another way to describe her virginity.
