Work is hectic. A 9 to 5 for a woman whose sister is getting married next week can be tough. Real tough!

Kiya, my younger sister, is getting married to a guy she's known for five years now. He was like family to us. And in a few more days he will be family to us. Wow...

I'm taking the rest of the day, after lunch, off, to help Kiya and Stella (Kiya's best friend), finish final preparations for the ceremony. Stella's taking care of the invitations, dresses and gifts. And I'm in charge for the wedding hall, decorations and food.

I think I gained over 2000 calories a day on the food, drinks and chocolate that I've been trying for the wedding. I really need to workout. Maybe I should ask Cheryl, my roommate, if I could use her treadmill tonight.

Hmm...I need to file these documents carefully, 'Blue for the 'John Waters' case'.
Blue and water! What a coincidence. I smirk at my 12-year old behavior.
Coming to blue...I'll definitely theme my wedding blue. Though Kiya went for beige and white.

After a quick lunch at the cafeteria, I grab my handbag and head out to meet the girls at Stella's boutique, 'The Stellar'.
I step into the cool, air conditioned shop, cursing my footwear for burning my feet.

One of Stella's assistants collects my coat and bag and hands me a glass of Margarita. I sip the rescue nectar and walk through the familiar aisles of the store. Stella comes running up to me with tears in her eyes. "She looks beautiful Kate!"

I gaze ahead toward a person I was used to seeing in short shorts and frocks, and recognize Kiya as a beautiful bride in a long, slender white gown with short frills attached at the end.
"How do I look!?" She asks "I don't look slim enough do I?"

I sigh and roll my eyes "Same old, same old K" I laugh.
"You look perfect bae" I assure her. "And oh! I heard Cheryl use 'bae' last night. I don't know if it's the correct context at present"

Now it's her turn to sigh, roll eyes and laugh. "It is the perfect context bae".

We go through a few more lists of wedding guests, catering bills, etc. and then disperse.
I walk back to my apartment, as it's just a few blocks round the corner. As I reach the second floor, I notice several cardboard boxes outside our door. I rush in to see Cheryl eating out of a Chinese takeout box. "Hey" she says "I'm sorry I started without you. I was starving!! Your box is in the microwave Kate"

"No problem. Thanks." I exclaim "and hey, could I spend some time on the treadmill later?"

"Umm Kate, I packed it up. I'm selling it day after."

"What? Why? You use it regularly don't you?"

"Yeah but there's going to be a gym right next to where I'll stay."

"Where you'll stay?? Where are you going?"

"Oh my god. I'm so sorry. I assumed you checked the message I sent you."

"Message?" I blink. "Oh! My phone's not working. I gave it for repair. B...but where are you going and why!!?"

"I got a promotion Kate! And they offered me a place near the office. All furnished!" She literally screams and jumps onto me.

I balance myself and hug her back. "Oh my god!! That's great! Let's celebrate!" I shout. "But wait...what about me?" I frown.

"I already talked to one of my friends, she said she'll check the place out tomorrow."

"Ok...but it's not going to be the same without you Cheryl" I tear up and hug her.

"I know! But don't miss me too much okay!? I'll visit!" She winks.

And we head out to celebrate...
