The clock ticked as time passed and there was still no sign of Alya.
Alya was late to school again. Marinette didn't know why she was always late to school, especially on Mondays. She put her head down on the desk and closed her eyes. Before she knew it she felt someone poking her. She woke up and found her best friend Alya sitting next to her wearing a sweater and dark jeans with her hair in her face. "Why were you so late?" Questioned Marinette. "Oh it's because I had to shower then finish my homework and mostly because I went to sleep late last night." Marinette knew her best friend was lying, she could just tell, Alya was hiding something from her but she didn't know what. The bell rang and it was time for PE class. After class they walked home together, it was almost summer and very hot outside, Marinette still wondered why her best friend still wore a jacket. "So Alya why were you really late?" Alya stopped walking right where she stood and there was dead silence, as if there were no cars passing by, and as if they were the only ones in the world just standing by each other. Marinette heard her best friend crying and quickly turned around and saw Alya's face buried in her hands. Shaking Alya removed her sweater, revealing the cuts and bruises. Some of the cuts were still fresh but others were old. Alya ran up to Mari and grabbed her shirt. "Look what my parents have done to me, look at me! Aren't you disgusted? Why didn't you ask sooner, Answer me! " Marinette grabbed Alya's hand and pulled her in tight, she hugged her best friend as if this was the last time she would ever see her. The two of them stood sobbing in the middle of the street, the sun was hiding behind the clouds, making the world seem gloomy and dead. Soon enough they had both calmed down and continued to walk home, but they decided to go to the park to talk about things, once they were at the park, Mari asked how they got there. "I often do mistakes," answered Alya, " and my parents, it's like they don't love me anymore, I don't want you to think I'm putting all of the blame on them but I know they beat me because I do things wrong." Marinette's eyes watered because she couldn't believe her best friend thought it was her fault that her parents beat her. "A-and the cuts? Who did those?" Her voice was breaking up. "I did...sometimes I lock myself in the bathroom while I'm taking showers or in my room and just cut myself because it makes me feel better, but later I have to do it again to feel better again" Marinette had had enough of this she got up and said. "That's it I've had enough of this shit, I'm leaving I need to tell someone about this." Alya pleaded for her not to tell anyone but Marinette just ran home.
