They enforced the laws. Destroyed anyone's chances of helping save our planet. Destroyed anyone's chances of surviving. When they enforced the laws, many people started to rebel. So they brought in the guns, and the fighting and the torture. They enhanced their forms of punishment. They tried to keep everyone under control. Our democracy turned into a communist country. The government terrifying people into obeying. The year is 8950, and Earth is no longer inhabitable.
I violated the law. My curiosity has never subsided, since. I was aware that if I ventured outside the gate of our territory, I would find myself in distress. But since I am underage I expected a modified punishment, and they did. They pushed off the death penalty until I would be eighteen years old. So for three years I have been rotting in a colorless, damp, disgusting cell.
My eighteenth birthday is tomorrow. I already feel the gas swallowing into my lungs as they leave me in a gas chamber, to die. I haven't been outside my cell for three years. Three long, hard years. Three years my imagination has captured me into a state of insanity. Where I dream of Earth so many years ago. Or if I could have gone to live with my cousin, he went to live on United Mars when things began to look rough. The entire planet has been drowning in pollution and acid for thousands of years, yet no one decided it was enough. No one decided they should take a stand. So now, no one gets to live. My name is Imogen Montgomery, and I wanted to be that person to take a stand, but I never got to. Because I actually revealed the truth to the world. That we could not live here anymore, we couldn't inhabit this place anymore. So for three years, after my public broadcast, the government has been frantically searching for a way out of this mess. A way to avoid all of these innocent people dying.
I tore away from my thoughts as I saw the guard unlocking my cell. He held a gas mask in his hand, and I started to frantically escape from his grasp. "No!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. My throat burning. "I'm not eighteen. Tomorrow! Tomorrow! Not today!" I screamed as loudly as I possibly could. At the top of my lungs. But the guard dragged me out of my cell. As soon as I got into the bright hallway I saw the others. Screaming also, screaming that it's not their day. They were frantically searching for a way to escape also. I looked down the hallway, they were dragging us there. Dragging us to our deaths. "No!" I screamed once more, and then the guard stabbed me in the shoulder with a needle, and all I saw was black.

When I awoke there was an eerie feeling. My vision was blurry and my head was fuzzy. There were some voices muttering, but there was a large engine sound. The sound of an engine muttering and then blasting. Then my body hit back to the seat that I was sitting on. With pain I tried to get my head to look at the person beside me, but the force of movement was too great I couldn't move my head at all. Then I heard a child screaming from across me, and somehow I got the courage to open my mouth. "You're okay. Stay calm. Just relax." I said, more to myself than to the child. She continued to scream. "Hey! Hey!" I basically screamed over the sound of the engine. "It's gonna be okay, we are going to be okay. Tell me your name." I said.
"Yvonne. " She said across the room.
"Hi Yvonne, I'm Imogen. I'm seventeen years old, how old are you?"
"Twelve." She said. Twelve years old. And they dragged her out of her cell and put her on this ship. I've come to the conclusion that we are on a ship, a designated ship that will bring us somewhere. i just don't know where, or if my theory is right.
"Okay, Yv- Can I just call you Y?"
"Yes." She said, I could hear her voice calming down.
"Okay Y, nice to meet you."
"You too." She said.
"Hey Imogen, you want to calm me down as well?"
"Victor Hoffman. How you been?" I said, Victor used to be on my old bus route, before they closed those down.
"Eh, ya know. Prison done meh well." Victor was a confident boy that was two years older than me. Him and I used to joke around and make fun of people on the bus. People with weird hair does or people who were rich.
"Hey can you guys cut the reunion and figure out where the heck we are?" The interior of this ship was a circle, we were all facing each other we just couldn't see one another because the lighting was broken. And we were traveling out of the earth's atmosphere.
"Just sit tight and enjoy the ride." Another voice came from my right. And soon there were no more voices. There was just the sound of the engine carrying us out of the atmosphere of our infected planet.
