I'm actually not sure how this is going to work. It probably won't but, meh, I'll let destiny take me for a ride. Also my TMR knowledge may not be great as I've only just finished the first book. Please don't banish me if I get some of the characterization wrong.

(Set pre-Thomas)

The sound of an alarm filled the air of the Glade to notify everyone that a newbie was ascending towards the surface in the Box. Obviously you had no idea that was happening as you sprinted along the towering walls of the maze, cutting clumps of ivy and throwing it into the floor at every turn you made. You were memorizing the slight changes to the walls trying to find a damned exit to escape this Maze that held you and your fellow Gladers captive. It was frustrating. No one ever found anything that even hinted to there even being a shucking exit to this godforsaken Maze. All you and all the other Runners did was run, grasping at the ever slimming chance that one day a hole in these stone walls would appear and lead you all to freedom. You laughed to yourself. This was hopeless. All so. Hopeless.

You ran for another half an hour before taking a break, resting your back against the ivy covered walls, taking sharp intakes of air. You took your small lunch out of your rucksack, a sandwich and a bottle of water. You devoured your sandwich and gulped the water. The cool liquid soothed your sore throat, ragged from breathing so heavily. You checked your watch after finished your meal, time to head back. You heaved yourself back up onto your feet and set off at a steady speed back to the Glade.

The newbie was practically yanked out of the Box by Alby and thrust into the group of teenage boys all discussing something or other.

"Wh-where am I?" He stuttered in an odd accent. He heard one of the boys pipe up.

"He sounds like you, Newt," he said.

"Yeah, I can bloody well hear that," said a blonde haired boy with a very similar accent to the newbie that had just been thrown into the crowd of boys.

"Where am I?" The boy repeated.

"The Glade," the boy who had yanked him out of the Box told him, "what's your name, Greenie?"

"D-Dan," he replied.

"Well welcome to the Glade, Dan. I'm Alby and that's Newt," he said pointing at the blonde boy.

"Hi," Dan said.

"Well I'm sure Chuck will sort our your sleeping-arrangements and give you a brief tour, Greenie, we've got other things to be sorting out," Newt said before walking off to a building, disbanding the group that was once huddling around him. Dan just stood there wallowing in his thoughts. He couldn't remember squat.

You ran over the threshold of the Maze just before dusk came down upon the Glade and the Doors slid shut, trapping you inside the Maze where you would most certainly end up with a gruesome fate. You headed straight to the Map Room in order to record everything you had remembered from running around that wretched Maze. You put it into the correlating box and then exited the building.

As soon as you were out into the open air of the Glade you bent over, hands on your knees as you coughed up up your lungs. After finishing your episode you straightened yourself out and brushed down your clothes. You heard a clamor of feet. You turned around to find that the noise was coming from Newt's limping run. You jogged over to him to meet him half way.

"(Y/n/n) you're bloody safe!" He exclaimed.

"Of course I am, silly," you said, embracing him in the tightest hug you could ever remember having. You broke from the hug and he gave you a quick peck on the lips. You were just about to deepen the kiss when you noticed someone watching you. You looked past Newt to see a boy with brown hair staring at you.

"Who the shuck is that?" You asked pointing over Newt's shoulder. He swiveled his head to see who you were pointing that, giving the boy a look that could kill, causing him to scamper off.

"That's the new bloody Greenie, Dan," he said.
