Chapter One

Roses are red, violets are blue, you're weird but cool, and I love you.

Love, Kamala

I read the short poem from my little sister, remembering when and why she had given it to me. I had started my first day of sixth grade, and I was really excited because my parents had finally decided to let me go to public school. They realized they had to tell me why at some point, so they decided to tell me when I was very young, so I've always been aware of the danger surrounding me. Anyway I went to school, and already knew most everything we were learning since my parents, always made sure I understood things, and got straight A's. All the kids picked on me, calling me a geek, and a nerd. Well when I came home, Kamala could tell I was upset so she wrote me this poem. After I read it I was determined to show them, that I could be just as cool and athletic as them. So I went to school the next day and during recess we played pretty much every type of sport there was, and not to toot my own horn but I won all of them, after I had beaten them at everything, all the sudden they all wanted to be my friend. (Yes, I do realize they aren't real friends, but I'm still nice to them.) I smiled at the memory, because, if not for that poem I wouldn't have become the star athlete at the high-school. I have so far gotten several scholarships to colleges, but I wanted to stay nearby. "Kishan, we need to leave soon!" I hear Kamala yell from downstairs. Snapping out of the memories, I grab my backpack and head downstairs. I wave to mom and dad, as I walk out the door with Kamala. We get in the car and head to school. "So how are you, and Allison?" I hear Kamala ask. Allison is my girlfriend, she is such a great person, and I really care about her. "We're good, I'm thinking about taking her out to dinner this weekend after the game." "That will be nice." "What about you Kamala, do you have any boy admirers?" I jokingly ask. Well sort of I mean I am her big brother. "I don't know, a lot of guys in my grade are complete jerks that just want to use you." "Yeah, I guess not everyone gets to have a guy like me in their grade." I look over at her flashing a smirk. She knows I'm just kidding, I would never be that stuck up. "You weirdo." She responds sticking her tongue out at me. We arrive at school, and park. "Hold on a second." Kamala tells me. She brushes out her long brown hair, it has a slight curl to it, but it looks just like mom's hair does. Actually Kamala looks just like mom, but she has blue eyes. I've been told I look just like Kishan, he's my uncle. "Okay, I'm ready." As we start walking towards the school Jeremy and Allison join us. Jeremy is Kamala's childhood best friend, but I think they both have feelings for each other. If you know what I mean. I slow down as Allison walks towards me so I can hold her hand. I haven't told anybody this, but I think I'm going to tell her I love her tonight. "How do I look?" I hear her sweet voice say. "You look beautiful Allison." I'm completely telling the truth. She is truly beautiful and always catches people's eyes. She has on some black skinny jeans with a blue and black striped sweater, I love it when she wears blue it brings out the red color in her hair. Ah I love her hair it's always so soft, and smells good.. "Kishan?!" I snap out of it immediately, feeling embarrassed that she had just caught me staring at her. "Uhh, Yes?" "I was trying to ask you, if you wanted to do anything this weekend?" "Yeah, I thought we could go on a picnic in the park." "Aww, I'd love that. You're so sweet." She leans in to kiss me, and just as our lips touch, the bell goes off. We both rush into the building, dashing for homeroom, and make it just as the teacher is walking in. As we go through each class, I see Allison and Jeremy, but not Kamala.. As Allison and I walk into the lunchroom, I look around for Kamala and Jeremy. We always sit together at lunch, just in case someone tries something with my little sister. "Hey, where is Kamala?" I hear Jeremy ask. " What do you mean? I thought she was with you." I ask feeling confused and then suddenly I get a horrible feeling. I pull out my phone and call dad. "Kishan, what's wrong?" He says sounding worried. "Dad, I can't find Kamala, I don't know where she is." "What?! Keep looking around for her, I'll be right there." I put my phone in my pocket, and look at Jeremy. "We need to look for her." We split up and start looking for her. I ask her friends if they have seen her, and look in all the classrooms and hallways, but I can't find her anywhere. I start to really panic, and start imagining the worst. "Kishan?" I hear mom say sounding very panicked. I turn around and saw her, and my dad. "Have you found her?!" They both shake their heads solemnly. "Well I am going to keep looking for her." I state, dead set on finding her. I walk towards the back of the school. I hear the doors opening and closing, so I run to see if it was Kamala and it was! "Kamala? Thank goodness. I was so worried about you." I say to her. "Kishan! We have to get back to the cafeteria!" She yells at me. Feeling confused I say "Wha" But before I can finish saying why, I hear a man say "Came back here you little..." "Kamala who is that?" I ask her worriedly. "I don't know, and I don't want to find out!" She tells me grabbing my head and dragging me to the cafeteria. I'm just in shock right now. I can't even process everything that is going on. Then I snapped out of it and starting running alongside her. All the sudden I realize Kamala is floating away from me. No wait. Floating is the wrong word. More like shooting straight back to this man, in the air!! She is flying. "Kishan! What's happening?!" I hear Kamala yell. "What do you want?" I roughly say to this man. "Revenge, but I think I'll just take her." He replies just as roughly. Then he puts a rag over her face, mutters a few words and disappears into thin air. I'm completely shocked, to say the least. "What the heck?!" I say to myself.. Then I see that a note has been left so I run over pick it up and it says, "Only bring your parents, and meet me at the abandoned warehouse #17 downtown." I immediately go to tell my parents.
