Art is a skill, that is learned through experience, not teaching. These steps may not make you the next Leonardo Da Vinci, but with practice, you will become better! Words are too limited, but if you draw a picture of a flower, everyone in the world can look at it and say, "That's a flower,"
First, create a basic outline for what you want to draw. You may want to pull a picture from Google.

Then, once you have your basic outline, erase all hidden lines. Did I mention that you want to draw lightly?
Next, move to body features. Ex: body size, face, arms, legs, etc. I find this to be the easiest. It gets your ideas flowing. Keep drawing lightly!
Fourthly, Add clothes, fur, or whatever your person/animal may be wearing.
Finally, Add detail! Detail is so important in art. If you're happy with your drawing, darken your lines, and erase all hidden lines, if used.
