"I can't believe you're leaving" my mother sobbed into my shoulder as if I was going off to war never to be seen again, I patted her back telling her I'd miss her and be back home soon. The truth was I would probably never be back here to the mountains of Virginia, I was leaving for college, UCLA to be exact I had a full ride scholarship and there was no way I was looking back.
As I whispered a final goodbye to my mom my two best friends pulled up! Maisie was the youngest by two years but she graduated early need I mention she's really smart! And Katie just a little younger than me by a couple months! I was the oldest oh yeah I forgot to mention my name is Brooklyn but just Brooke for short. My friends and I had dreamed of this day for years California was our biggest dream and now it was coming true!
"No wild parties!"
"K mom"
"I'm serious Brooklyn Mae NO WILD PARTIES!"
"Okay mom seriously chill you know if I get in trouble I'll loose my scholarship and I'm not about that" I blew her one last kiss and the über pulled out of my drive way. I really wasn't much of a party girl anyway I have only been to one party and that was with a couple kids from my beta club in highschool, our strongest drink was Pepsi. I had promised my dad no reckless relationships but hey we're going to California things are different there. Parties are wilder, drinks are stronger, and boys were hotter.
Airplanes have been my biggest fear for as long as I remember so when the uber dropped us off at the airport my stomach was turning but Katie and maisie both squeezed me tightly and said "chill out Brookie cookie it's just a plane!" In unison. The flight was delayed for about two hours but before I knew it we were landing in California.
DAY ONE OF MY NEW LIFE! My brain screamed as I grabbed my carry on and walked off the plane. Maisie looked at me and smiled "thanks for this opportunity Brooke I'm so excited!" I smiled back saying, "are you kidding there's no way I would move across the country without either of you!" Pulling them into a group hug.
Our sentimental moment was soon broken apart by a tall, tan guy wearing sunglasses...inside one of my biggest pet peeves "excuse us..." I muttered trying to sound bitchy because he hadn't said sorry he smiled and nodded as if I was the one who hit him. Yes, I wanted to be so mad and tell him off because that's the outspoken woman in me but his smile it stopped me dead in my tracks and I smiled back I had never in my life seen a smile as perfect as the one he has I didn't even know his name but I already knew that I want to.
