You Could Wait for a Lifetime to Spend Your Days in the Sunshiiine

I grinned. "You mean you wanna carry my purse?" I beamed sarcastically. "Wow! You're like the best boss ever!"

He rolled his eyes. "I meant your hand!"

"Oh. That works too I suppose."

"You're fuckin' right it does!" He said. "I'm the boss, right? What I say goes."

And so it went. The weather was absolutely gorgeous that day as we strolled down the sidewalk towards the dry cleaner's. The sun shined brightly but it was comfortable enough to wear a jacket. Liam had on his beige one with a pair of light wash jeans. I wasn't a super big fan of his jeans. They were kind of skinny and I'd have been happier to see him in flares. I didn't say anything though. He looked good regardless.

"So where's Noel now?" Liam asked as we walked hand-in-hand.

            "Somewhere in Europe." I replied.

            "Forgettin' you, I reckon."

"No." I said as I stopped walking.

"What?" He looked at me confused.

"Why are you being such a dick?"

"I'm not bein' a dick! I'm just statin' the obvious. He doesn't care about ya. If he did, he'd-"

A beam of light flashed quickly, distracting him.

And it wasn't from the sun.

"Oh for fuck's sake!" Liam exclaimed as he looked across the street at the person facing us. "Have a look at this, ya cunt!" He said as he raised two fingers.

I shook my head and rolled my eyes as I watched him. "And you say you're not being a dick."

"That fucker deserved it! He's over there takin' my fuckin' picture without askin' and-"

"You're loving every minute of it."

He furrowed his eyebrows at me just a bit. "Come on, let's go." He nodded as he led us on our way.

But not without showing the photographer two cold fingers again as we headed off down the street.

We mucked about in the good weather while we waited the hour for Liam's clothes to get done. Liam seemed put off about something but I couldn't figure out what it was. Part of me wondered if it had anything to do with our conversation that morning.

My goal for becoming his assistant was to build my own life in London. Make my own money. I know that's hard to believe but it's true. I wanted to prove to myself I could make it. I didn't want to rely on either Gallagher brother because I knew there was a possibility of it ending. My biggest fear was at least one of them would grow tired of me and I'd have nothing to do but ship out and head back to Ohio.

But part of me said that wasn't possible. Noel was too persistent about me coming to London. Surely that meant he wanted me there even if he was off on tour.

And Liam. His track record with women was awful. He kept his main birds but always had side chicks. The question was, where did I fit in? I had to keep myself guarded. I was sure all the crap he said about us being together was all a load of...well, crap. I'm sure I wasn't the first person he said stuff like that to. And I doubted I'd be the last.
