Chapter 2 - Truth Or Dare

"Hey Annie!" Liv says through the phone. "Hey Liv! Are we still on for today?" I ask. "For sure! See you at 11!" she laughs. "Cmon Liv! We have to get ready!" Katie yells from the background. "Okay I'll talk to you later, bye!" Liv says. "Bye! See you soon!" I reply, hanging up. I've been talking to Liv and Katie for about a month now and today I'm finally going over to their house! I've become less of a fan and more of a friend. I've also been talking to Brennan a lot lately. I um, I don't really know what else to say about that. I think we're just friends. Whatever, that's not important. I look down at the clock and see that it's 10:15. My mom is supposed to bring me to their house in a half an hour. I just head downstairs and grab an apple. I sit on the couch and put on the tv for a while. Of course, there's nothing good on. Whatever, I'll just text someone. As I look through my contacts, I think about what could happen today. Before I know it, my mom calls me. "Annie, time to go!" she yells. I jump off of the couch and follow her to the car. "You excited?" she asks, starting to drive. "Super excited! I heard Katie's brother invited a few friends. Caleb's already on his way with Luke, right?" I ask. Caleb and Luke have been friends forever, they're on the same baseball team. And apparently Luke is really good friends with Brennan too. "Yeah, they should be there by now. We only have a few minutes left" she says. I smile and look out the window. Minutes pass and soon enough, we turn into their house. I hug my mom and grab all of my stuff. I'm sleeping over too so I brought a bunch of stuff. Liv and Katie are already outside waiting for me. "Hey Annie!" they both say. "Hey guys!" I say, hugging them as best as I can with all of this stuff in my hands. "Here, let me help you" Liv offers laughing. They both take something from my hands and lead me down to the basement. When we get down there, Caleb, Brennan, and Luke are already down there playing video games. "Hey! It's my little sister!" Caleb says walking over to me. "Hey Caleb" I say hugging him. "How are you?" he asks. "Good. How bout you?" I say poking his stomach. "So so" he says and I laugh. "Hey Luke" I say. I've known him for so long, he's basically another brother to me. "Hi Brennan" I say smiling and blushing. "Hey Annie" he smiles. "Cmere, we'll show you where you can put your stuff" Katie says, grabbing my arm and dragging me into another part of their basement. "Geez, this house is huge!" I exclaim. They both just laugh. I put down my stuff. "So, we were thinking about going outside for a bit of gymnastics, then we'll come inside for nails and hair and such, then we can get some pizza, we'll make ice cream sundaes, and we can play truth or dare!" Katie says. "Wow, you have everything planned out" I laugh. They both laugh with me. "Let's go!" they say, pulling me again. We pass the boys and Caleb asks where we're going. "We're going outside for gymnastics. Probably nothing you'd be interested in" I laugh. "Can we try? I mean, how bad can we be?" Luke asks. I look at the girls and they just shrug. "Why not?" Liv says. "Sure! Cmon!" I say, grabbing Caleb's arm. "You coming Brennan?" Caleb asks. "Uh, sure" he says, smiling at me. I look down and blush. We get outside and we warm up. Katie, Liv and I actually do real warmups while the boys do, well some weird motions. They're not very good at stretching. We were laughing the whole time, making it hard to warm up correctly. They had already set up a bunch of mats and beams, it was really cool. I go to floor first and do a round off, back handspring, back tuck to warm up. "Woah!" Luke exclaims. "What?" I laugh. "That, that was amazing!" he says, his mouth wide open. "That's not the half of it" I laugh. He just stands there amazed. Then, Katie, Liv and I do synchronized tricks and it looks really cool. Luke is now on the ground, still amazed. Brennan's just talking to Caleb and they're throwing a baseball. I smile to myself watching how cute Brennan is. He notices I'm staring at him and he waves, I wave back. Surprisingly, no one notices. We spend another hour doing gymnastics before going inside and changing. Seeing as I was wearing a leo and Nike Pros, I change into a t shirt and sweats. Once were all settled in, Katie starts painting my nails while Liv does Katie's hair. "So" Liv says. "So" I reply, smiling. "Who does little miss Annie like?" Liv asks, trying to hide her excitement. The smile wipes off my face and I stutter. "Uh, no one" I lie. "Oh, that's a lie" Katie exclaims. "Who do you really like?" Liv asks again. "Brennan" I say so quietly that they don't hear me. "What?" they both say. I clear my throat, close my eyes, and take a deep breath, saying it louder this time, "Brennan" Katie and Liv both stop what they're doing and look at eachother. "What?" I ask nervously. They then jump up and down and scream. I almost fall off of the bed. "No way!" Liv yells. "Am I missing something...?" I ask, very confused. "You're all Brennan talks about! Annie said this and Annie said that, he likes you too!" Katie sequels. I just smile. Once they're done yelling and jumping, we continue hair and nails. A little while later, we decide do order some pizza. We go down into the living room, where the boys are, and order one. "Will you ask them if they want any pizza?" Katie asks me. "Sure" I say walking into the other room. "Do you guys want any pizza?" I ask them. "YES!" Caleb and Luke scream. "Sure" Brennan replies, smiling at me. I smile back and walk back into the other room. "Yep" I say. Katie orders the pizza and its here within 10 minutes. We bring the pizza into the living room to the boys. "Yayyy pizza!" Luke exclaims. We each take a slice, beginning to eat. "Truth or dare time!" Caleb yells with two prices of pizza in his hands. I roll my eyes and sit down in the circle. "Who's going first?" Katie asks. "I will!" Liv volunteers. "Caleb!" she yells. Caleb looks up from his pieces of pizza. "Truth or dare?" Liv asks. "Dare!" he says, smirking. "I dare you to lick the bottom of your shoe!" she says. Katie and I laugh. He takes his shoe and lick the bottom of it with no expression, then puts his shoe back on his foot. We all say "ewwww!" and laugh at the same time. Brennan a just smiles a bit. I hope he's okay. "How did you do that without even flinching?!" Katie asks confused. "Luke has had me do MUCH worse during other game of truth or dare" Caleb says. "That's true, I was there. And I almost threw up" I say, remembering the horrible, disgusting things Luke made Caleb do. "Guilty" Luke says, raising his right hand. We all laugh. "My turn!" Caleb announces. "Luke! Truth or dare!" Caleb asks Luke. "Uh, truth" he says. "Awe, you wimp!" Caleb says, playfully punches Luke's arm. Luke just rolls his eyes. "What's the worst thing you've ever done to Sydney?" Caleb asks, leaning in. Sydney is Luke's sister, were not really good friends, she has a bunch of other friends. "Well, whenever I got mad at her when we were younger, I used to use her tooth brush to brush the dogs teeth and then put it back. She never even noticed" Luke laughs. "Ew, Luke!" Liv explains. We all laugh again. "Dude, you're evil" Brennan says, speaking for the first time in a couple minutes. "Yeah, yeah" Luke laughs. "Okay, ummmm," Luke looks at all of us, "Katie! Truth or dare?" he asks. "Dare" Katie says. "I dare you to call your crush" Luke smirks. Katie's face goes red as she takes out her phone. She calls someone named James and he surprisingly picks up. Katie puts it on speaker so we can here. "Hey Katie!" James says. "Hi James!" Katie replies. "I was dared to call you and-" Katie starts but Luke cuts her off. "KATIE LOVES YOU!" he yells. "I'll text you later" Katie say hanging up, her face turning red. "Ugh, you idiot!" Katie yells, punching Luke's arm. He just laughs. "Okay my turn. Ummmmm.... ANNIE! Truth or dare?" she asks smirking. My face goes red. If I pick truth, she's going to ask me who I have a crush on. So, how bad could dare be? "Dare" I say. "I dare you to eat a spoonful of hot sauce" she says. "Ew! What the heck Katie?! I thought we were friends!" I say laughing and punching her playfully. She just sits there with her arms crossed, very pleased with herself. I roll my eyes and walk to the kitchen. As I grab the hot sauce and a spoon, I look back at my friends' reactions. They're all laughing except for one; Brennan. He actually looks worried. He knows that I really can't take spicy stuff. "Go ahead Annie, do it!" Liv squeals. I sigh and put the spoonful of hot sauce into my mouth. I spit it into the sink and scramble for water. My mouth feels like it's on fire and I'm worried. I look over to see everyone laughing hysterically, all except for Brennan again. I grab a glass of water but it doesn't help anything. I feel like I might pass out and I grab onto the side of the counter. I only hear the sounds of my best friends laughing, I don't know what to do. The room starts to spin and I fall backwards, into someone's arms. I look up to find a terrified look on Brennan's face. By this time, everyone has stopped laughing and they're all staring at us. He places me back on my feet and turns me to face him, holding my shoulders. He touches my cheek. "You okay?"  he whispers. My breath catches in my throat and I'm speechless. When I finally built up the confidence, I stuttered. "Y-yeah, I think so. Thanks" I replied, smiling after. He smiles back weakly, I could tell he was still worried. Before either of us could speak again, he pulls me into his arms for a hug. I'm caught off guard, but I hug back and I can't say I don't enjoy it. "I never should've let you go through with that dare, I know how sensitive you are" he whispers into my ear, sounding guilty. "It's fine, I had the ability to say no, it was my decision. Thank you so much though" I whispers back. This hug must look very weird to everyone else because it was very long. When we pull away, we both sit down, except this time, he sits next to me. Everyone looks at him weird but he just ignores it. It feels nice to have him here next to me, it's almost like he's another brother. I look over at Caleb and see him nod at Brennan as if to say, "Take care of her". Brennan smiles and nods back. Looks like now I have two brothers. I turn my head to look at Brennan only to find him already staring at me. I blush and smile, he smiles back. I guess I didn't just fall for the hot sauce tonight.
