"Why did you want to go with me again? I swear, I know I owe you but still....why?" I asked as I walked on the trail with Nathanael munching an apple. Loudly.
"You are just jealous of this apple," Nathanael says rolling his eyes.
"How am I jealous by that apple?" I replied confused as I grabbed a sandwich from his backpack and bite into it.
"See what I'm doing to this apple?"
I stared at him puzzled.
He bit it then chew, he licked his lips slowly. He grinned at me with his mouth open. "That's what you do in order to get a female to do whatever you want"
"Ew," I said, both at his perverted meaning and how he's eating with his mouth open.
Nathanael burst out laughing. "That's what you get for asking a stupid question," he smirked as he continued eating.
"I was just wondering," I mumbled. He shrugs simply as he continued to eat his apple.
I smiled bitterly as I watched two kids run with their parents chasing them yelling 'Stop'
All families are like that I guess, anywhere, but it's unfair how the dark fairytale characters don't get the same joy. Apparently, Nathanael here understood as he watched the kids.
"The children over there are lucky," he mumbled. You got that right. Wait, what?
"You never experience that? Kids having fun while being young and carefree?" I asked him, surprised.
Maybe we are more alike than I thought.
"I did, but then-," he stopped watching the children laughing.
"What?" I questioned.
"Nosy, aren't you?" he teased me. I crossed my arms. "Tell me, I won't laugh," I persistent.
"My family is different. While most, when they have a boy, their boy need to be the perfect guy that any girl will go for. Unfortunately, I'm not one of those yet I experience the same joy and happiness in my childhood. But then they became bitter, jealous, I say of the other boys that are more talented than I am. A few years later, I ran away after their death, and the king took me as one of his own and raise me to be a knight," he mumbled.
"Oh," was all I said.
He raised my eyebrows at me. "Judging by your expression, it's either you pities me or you experience the same," he then smiled a bit. "I told you my story, now tell me yours," he scolded.
"Mines not a happily ever after one,"
"So? Who cares, spill," he crossed his arms this time while I'm the one who's hesitating.
"I ran away from home," I said bluntly. I sighed as I continued. "I ran away from home two years ago, I was 12 back then, I ran away because....my story cause them to be in danger,"
I didn't stop to tell him which character I am in the stories.
"So anyways, when I came back, they died, I never got a chance to tell them why I ran away, or why I did anything in the first place," I mumbled bitterly.
"So after, I continued running away. Facilities caught me and tried to get me to stay there, but I resisted. I'm a curse. One by one, someone important to me die each time I run away. But if I stay there, all of them will die, I basically have no family, I'm just a runaway teenager wanting some attention but is a brat for not getting any," I muttered as my eyes turned puffy.
