Hey, guys!

This story is partly inspired by the song "Defying Gravity", but there is little to no relation to Wicked. :)

However, this story is centered around Sleeping Beauty, Mulan, and Robin Hood, with a hint of Rapunzel.

This book is entering the contest by @FairytaleCommunity called "Mix-Up". So be sure to check out their contests!

She felt like she was floating on air.

It was amazing, yet unbelievably frightening. Calissa hung off a branch with one arm and leaned away from the tall tree. Below her was miles of air. She breathed in a puff of air as the wind blew on her face. The sky was dark and the moon bright. The stars shone in her favour. She grasped at the stick that she had found on the forest floor. It was twisted and bent in awkward places and rough around the edges, but it would do well for its purpose.

She lowered her feet to the branch below to steady her from the harsh wind that came. The tree was tall. So tall that she could almost see the outline of her village through the peaks of the forest. The branch shook unsteadily and she looked down, the height fuzzing her vision. Her stomach squeezed too hard until she had to hop down a few branches to ease her mind.

Life had been great since her spell had been broken. She felt amazing and free. She was able to live her life like she always wanted to. There was no bondage, no condition that held her back. At least, not any ones that she couldn't run away from.

And since then, she loved to climb and explore anything to her heart's desire. There was no tree, no roof, no anything that she hadn't conquered. People said she was like a fearless cat that never shrank down from a challenge.

And they were right. Calissa gripped the stick in her hand tighter. Especially when she took on a new dangerous challenge that no one would ever think of doing.
