The clock said seventeen-thirty pm. It was only five, but the sun had surprisingly already set and the owls and the night-time animals suddenly perched on top of the trees while making themselves known. Hermione Granger sat on her bedroom window with her eyes shut tight and her jaw tightening.

Something was definitely bothering her. Her brow furrowed slightly but she tried to calm herself with something that her mother had told her. Breathe in, and out, in, and out Mione' dear. But that was before the truth.

Instead of actually calming down she let out a ferocious growl and her eyes snapped open. They didn't show muddy brown eyes anymore, they were blood red. The same red that her best friend had seen during his second year.

It was horrifying to say the least.

Deciding that maybe it was just a fake – even if she has read it twenty three times – and probably a prank from Ron's brothers, she put a bright smile on her face. No more sad news for now.

Hermione walked down the stairs of her house with a surprising, light-weight to them. She didn't bounce or mumble to herself. But her parents did not push. Or, a little voice inside her head whispered, maybe they didn't notice.

The brunette haired witch groaned quietly to not alert her p- the Gr- the two people sitting in the kitchen! She was getting quite a headache with all this thinking. All she needs, is probably a good old taste of her mum's delicious chicken soup.

But before she entered the room, she crept next to the wall and eavesdropped on them.

"Henry, do you think the girl will make it out alive of that place after this year?" The familiar voice of her mum made her relax, but she tensed double when she heard the tone of which her own mother spoke of her.

With digust and... envy?

"Hopefully not dear Jean, old Dumbledore said that there was this big event this year. But, he may need her for one more part of the plan." Henry replies stoically with the same tone.

She couldn't believe this was happening. It was all just too much! And Professor Dumbledore? What business does the headmaster have with her? With... with her life and her social standing and ugh... she needed time.

The one thing she didn't have. So she ran. She didn't run outside of course, that was just be impulsive and just... wrong! She didn't like it. Hermione made sure to not make a sound when closing the door to not alert the Grangers.

She wouldn't call them her parents. Not after what she just heard and read. It was... hurtful. Now she knows what Harry felt like when he found Sirius and Remus. They're living beings of the past. Living beings, of his parents past. He still has living relatives that aren't the Dursleys. But of course, the headmaster wouldn't allow it.

She scoffed now. Three years ago she wouldn't even consider it for another second. Her mantra that she lived by, a quote. Implanted in her by the Grangers. Authority is always right, you should always obey them.

Hermione is the brighest witch of her age, so she can find a way to be herself again. So she re-read the letter. She took the crumpled piece of parchment with slight tears in her eyes. Because it sounded so real to her, even if she was supposed to be cautious.

'Dear Mya,

oh Mya, if you are reading this my sweet little girl please know that I love you. That we love you. Me and your father. Please do not believe a single word that Dumbledore or the Order of the bloody chickens. Follow your instincts and call for Lord Ragnarok at Gringotts. If you have recieved this letter during the age of 14, you will be right on time.

-Love, Bellatrix Black and Tom Riddle'

Hermione couldn't help it. She cried.

For the first time ever since she went to Hogwarts, she cried. Ever since she had gotten the letter from Hogwarts she promised herself that things would be better. Nothing would get in her way. But, she guessed Merlin had set a different path for her. It was, definitely eye opening and saddening.

She wouldn't let it get to her head though. Of course she wouldn't. She ran to her bathroom and nearly slipped before washing her face and taking a bath. It's nearly three minutes till dinner. Hermione changed clothes into a baggy grey sweater that said 'Books... Anything Else?' in black, tight dark blue skinny jeans and a pair of matching socks.

Her parents would notice only a slight change though.

"Hermione dearie! Time for dinner!"

"Coming mum!" She replies softly, placing the letter into her backpack and then walked down the stairs. Soon, she will figure out her new game plan.
