I walked down the street sadly, staring down at the yellow heels on my feet. The Stars shimmered against the inky blue sky of the night, the city skyline glowing against the night. I tucked a loose strand of my short black hair back behind my ear, not daring to look back at the life I've left behind.
My problematic life, my old life. It's been left behind. I've walked out of my home, despite only being fifteen. I had nothing to take, and am now walking myself to the bus station after hours of walking. I clutched onto my red wallet, as I had no pockets on my red and white polka dotted dress.
I was worried I wouldn't have enough money to pay for what I needed to. I was leaving Missouri, and moving to Florida. I had convinced my parents to buy me a one way ticket to Florida, saying I'd pay for the way back. I wasn't coming back.
I would pay for a bus ticket with the little money I had, and get a job in Florida. The bus station was still another two or so hours walk away, even after walking for four.
I was afraid I wouldn't be able to afford a one way bus ticket to the airport. It shouldn't be all that expensive. I was going to get a ticket straight to Florida, but couldn't afford it.
"I'm not going to get Florida." I sighed.
I looked up, seeing a young girl standing at the end of the sidewalk. She had log blonde hair, and was wearing a plain white nightgown. She was clutching onto the arm of a teddy bear, and her eyes were closed.
I started slowly walking towards the girl, slightly afraid. I was about six feet or so away from her, when she looked up and opened her eyes. I stumbled back, her eyes a solid black.
I rubbed my eyes with the back of my hands, then looked back in the general area she was standing. She was gone.
I broke out into a sprint, running down the sidewalk. I wanted to get to the bus station now more than ever. I wanted to get to Florida.
