Black is written on my birth certificate,
The label used in social scenes.
Am I anything other than Black?
A human being like the rest of the people?
We still have Black History
Month.
It's 2016.
What we should be having is All lives Matter month,
Leaving the negative behind us and starting something new.
Don't get me wrong;
I'm proud of what people did back in the day to fight for my freedom.
We should celebrate it
And praise it.
But in a new way,
Not being labeled already for the color of my skin when walking anywhere.
But just as a person.
A person that is me.
I am Me.
