Cali's Pov
I hate Mondays. It's my first day at my new school and I'm already late. I took a quick shower, and applied a descent amount of eyeliner. I put on my tomato red lipstick that matched my sneels and wore my new high waist jean. "5 minutes!" my mom yelled "5 minutes until the bus arrives"! "Got it!" I yelled back as I took my last gulp of tea. I jogged back up the stairs to my room to brush my teeth. I sucked on a mint as I combed my naturally curly hair. I then tied it in a ponytail so that it would gently stroke my back. I grabbed my bag and chugged in all my books from the night before and then slipped my phone into my back pocket. I looked like the queen bee from my former school. I knew this because I modelled myself after her. I modelled myself after my bully. Memories flooded into my head and my eyes were threatening to burst. No, I am stronger than that now; I won't let my emotions get a hold of me. Head up, smile. "Love you, Mom" I yelled. "Love you too, Cali" she replied. I walked to the bus stop to wait for the school bus.
Popular, charming, funny, prissy, all-smiles, kind, attractive, poised, elegant. I had practiced it all in the past few weeks. I even got the walk right. It's all in the hips. I was going to do it right, well... better than last time at least. But I couldn't help but worry. Every time I thought of this school, a bunch of what if's immediately popped into my head; 'What if they don't like me?' Or 'what if they see through the act?' Enough with the what if's I can do this... probably.

"Lost?"
"Yes... do you know where the secretary is? I'm new." Okay, I sound pretty confident. No stutter, no stammer, good!
"Through that door, straight ahead, turn to the 3rd door you see on your right."
"Okay, thanks!" I said sounding as perky as I could.
When I finally reached the secretary, I gave three small knocks before letting myself in. She was a young looking lady with her brunette hair tied in a tight bun. She was typing frantically and would only occasionally stop to take a sip of coffee. I gave a soft cough to catch her attention. She seemed a little irritated but she still managed to hide with a wide smile.
"Uwineza Cali?"
"That would be me."
"A little late aren't you?"
"I got lost."
"Do you have your enrolment sheets?"
"Um... yeah hear you go."
"Okay, so..." she drifted back to her old-fashioned computer and got back to her typing. She looked me up and down then,
"Yeah, so here's your class journal, your textbooks, your schedule, and your locker key."
"Thanks."
On my way to the locker, I could feel them staring...judging. Wherever I walked suddenly grew quiet. I felt so awkward I wanted the earth to swallow me whole. Heck ya it's awkward but I'm not gonna show it. Back straight. Chin up. I gotta do it right. I'll be the queen bee at this school and I'll show her who is a nobody. I opened my locker and lightened my bag into the locker.
"Uhm... Hi! You're the new girl right?"
What do you think of the book so far? Do you like it?Don't forget to leave comments down low!
