She sent the message.
We were to be on our way to meet up with him, I was going to be her "suprise" for him.
I couldn't believe he actually replied to her message that fast after ignoring me for what felt like decades. I wasn't even sure if he would even want to see me.
It'd been 8 months since I've seen him in the flesh, we didn't even kiss goodbye. We broke up due to long distance before our 6th month anniversary.
We already left to wait at the bus stop. My friend was positive of which one to take, but it being a Sunday, it was going to be a while. My mind was stuck on him, how was it going to be, it'd been so long. We didn't end on bad terms or anything, but after being left on read countless times.. how else was I supposed to feel?
Alas the bus arrived, I paid my fare and sat next to the window seat. It may have been months since I've been around, but I remember the little things.
"Awe, you remembered!" Lisa said as she sat down next to the window.
"Haha, of course!"
The ride surprisingly didn't take very long, she sent him a message saying we'd be there in 20 minutes.
We got off in front of a corner store and walked down the block to the strip mall and dollar store that my ex and I would always go to.
It'd make sense we were going to meet up there again, since it was a common place to hang out at.

Lisa needed to buy some more cake mix and invited me to come along. As we were looking around the store I had noticed the boy from the 2 classes I had with him for almost a week, before I transferred schools. I had a crush on him at that time, but after a while had moved on from the temporary feeling. Seeing him again at the store brought back that emotion.

"Ahh, this is just like old times!" Lisa exclaimed.
"I dunno if I can do this." I was hesitant to see him again, if that wasn't obvious already. It wasn't even that he left me on read, it was also the last time I heard from him, he seemed like he was really upset/annoyed. I wouldn't blame the guy, I am hella annoying and practically a clingy ex.
"Come on, I know he would want to see you!" She was encouraging me, just when he walked into our sights. I panicked and wanted to run the other way. It was like my heart jumped out of my chest for a second, and I knew I was only making matters worse. If he were to be upset with me, that is. I managed to give him a wave after turning back around and reclaiming my place next to Lisa.

We had left the boy in the store, and started walking back home. I was reluctant to go so soon, so I walked as slow as possible. Lisa knew what was up and allowed me to do so. She even played along a bit and walked slow beside me. We heard a laughter erupt behind us. It was him and his friend. Lisa and I kept our pace as the boys got closer.
"You guys walk slow." It was him. It was the boy of my dreams, and he talked to me, or well, us. Could he see through our plan? Who cares, I was in front of the love of my life.

"I need to go to the store." He said blankly, yet there was a hint of determination to his step. He walked past me and Lisa and in front of us. I caught a whiff of his scent and told my friend about how he still smells the same. Lisa called me weird, but my nose brought up some history.
"How are your doggos?" I projected my voice for him to hear.
"They're like they always are." He muttered. That means they're "alright".
His response for every "How is, How are, How was" question was always an "alright". Unless he was in the mood to say something like "horrible" or "terrible" then he would, but would never explain except, "I dunno, I felt like saying that."
It didn't take long for me and Lisa to engage in our own obnoxious conversation for him to listen in on. Hoping we'd get a reply out of him. The only interaction he's really given was the previous answer and his little "wave" (he just holds up his hand and puts it back down) he returned to mine. After a little more awkward walking, we were inside the store and he immediately went to grab his items. Lisa went to look at Trac phones and I was trying to determine what soda I would buy.
