"You can't tell anyone about this, ever." The wall was cold against her skin, cement pressing into her exposed shoulders.

"Why not?" She spat blood, glaring at his lips as they moved without her hearing. With some satisfaction, Gem noticed a few missing teeth in his mouth.

Their arms were bandaged, but in the twenty minutes that they fought, Gem managed to rip his off. "They'll kill you." His lip was swelling as he let her go.

"I know."

"And...?"

She pulled her tattered shirt across herself, covering as much as she could from the cold air. "That's not your problem."

Again, she spat. This time Gem spat on his face before walking away.
