Gods

We were gods

Until you decided to taste a taste of Earth

To put your sparkling foot on the ground that never bore you

To hear the chatter of those humans that declared us dead

To feel the supple skin of those they called women

And the strong hands of those they called men

To drink and be merry

To be merry and joyful

Whilst I watched you from above, my smile disappearing

Because you were no longer a god

but a mortal

and you didn't mind it at all
