Locked Away

Chapter One

"Rise and shine sleepy head!", Aunt April says much too happy for 9:00 on a Saturday morning.
"What", I groaned.
"It's your birthday!! I have all kinds of fun things planned", she practically screams. Today I turn 14, its been exactly 6 years since the incident with my parents. I still don't like to talk about it. I dragged myself out of bed. I threw on a lavender colored skater dress and curled my hair.

Aunt April out did herself today. We went to the mall, got our nails done and now we are going out to my favorite place for dinner, the Cheesecake Factory. We finally sit down and I order my usual, penne with tomatoe sauce and meatballs. I look over at a family sitting a few tables away. They look so happy, all laughing together, I wish my life could have been like that. I will never forget that night.
Flashback
It was the night of my eighth birthday, it was very late probably about three in the morning, when I heard screams coming from downstairs. I ran down to see what was happening. There was blood every where and my dad was holding a gun yelling, my mom was standing behind him, and right in front of my dad was a dead body with a bullet hole in the head and chest. I screamed and ran across the street to my neighbor Nicole's house. She answered the door right away and called the police. The police came and handcuffed my parents, and that was the last time I saw them.
Flashback over
I will never forget that night. I will always have it in my mind that my parents, people I thought would never hurt a fly, murdered someone. I can never look at anyone the same. I try and keep on a smile, I knew Aunt April is trying to help me forget what happened and just enjoy my birthday. When we get home Aunt April says,"I have something very important to tell you, Scarlet, your parents have served their sentence and are able to be released from jail."
"What!",I scream. What if I'm their next victim, or Aunt April? I ran upstairs to my room and cried myself to sleep.

Hey everyone! Just So you guys know this book is actually being written by two people. Me and my friend Jenna. We aren't really going to point out when one of us is writing. Unless you would like that.
