The academic year was gradually coming to an end and both students and teachers at the Wesley Girls High School had intensified their work to meet targets for the year. But it seemed Adwoa and her group of friends had not yet realized that.
They continued to skip classes, did not obey the rules and regulations of the school , and also sneaked out of the school compound without permission. It was as if there was nothing at stake for them
On one Monday morning, they went to school in unprescribed uniform. Their Mates gave them loud cheers as they got into their various dorms because of their fashionable attires.
Adwoa and her friends were on cloud nine for gaining popularity in the school . Rhema-Danielle and Vidisha who were bosom friends however ,kept their distance from the group.
On that faithful Sunday, after church service , the students were surprised to see the headmistress on the podium to address them "students" she bellowed in her usual baritone voice "there are some among you who have been true ambassadors of this great institution. While some of you excelled in your academic work, others also represented the school in competition such as sports, alcumus etc commend all such students and I'm very pleased to Honour three of them today "she said .
The headmistress went further to explain why such an event had to come on at that particular time instead of during the Schools Annual Speech and Prize-giving Day. According to her while some students were portraying the school positively, others were also bent on destroying its good name. In view of that, she said six of those students would be used as an example to warn others to be disciplined always. Just then the students began to whisper among themselves, wondering who the students to be punished were.
The headmistress began her list first with the names of those who had distinguished themselves. Rhema and Vidisha were happy when they were mentioned among the three student to be honored . A big applause died down abruptly at the sight of shabbily dressed students who mounted the stage escorted by some teachers. It was Adwoa and her friends Abena,Kukua, Hayley, Mimana, Nicole and Amy. 😧😧😧
There was absolute silence for the students were eager to listen to what the headmistress had to say . But it was one of the teachers who told the gathering what had happened . They were caught in their uniforms taking alcoholic drinks. As if that was not enough, they had created a scene under the influence of the alcohol and dragged the name of the school in mud . The headmistress declared them dismissed from the school. She used that as an opportunity to warn all students who had adopted the habit of disobeying school rules to desist from that in order not to suffer a similar fate.
Adwoa and her friends walked of the stage shamefully. But for Rhema and Vidisha ,it was a glorious moment in their lives . The choices they made had earned them joy and recognition in the school.
