You Weren't Suppose to Have Returned

This Place Seems Familiar

The sun was just beginning to set as the houses and stores all began to sleep for the night except for one window in a blue house that was lit up by a flash light being surrounded by  three friends who were huddling close together above the bright flashlight. In the center of the three was a girl with dyed dark red hair and dark brown eyes with the mischievous smirk of one about to tell a ghost story.

"I hear that there is a ghost who haunts the old lighthouse across the street from the school." said Akiko as the girl to her left, a girl with straight black hair and warm brown eyes snorted in disbelief at Akiko.

"No way! I hear there is an old abandoned amusement park behind the old train station that rumor is once you go in once you never get back out. Hundreds of teenagers have gone in and haven't ever been seen again." Rin said taking on the act of a looming ghost over Akiko with her arms raised and copying the smirk Akiko had when telling her story.

"I bet you wouldn't last one hour in there." Akiko taunted Rin. Using the flashlight to momentarily blind Rin and cause her to lean back in retreat from the harsh rays.

"Care to bet on that Akiko." Rin said boldly as she held her head up above the flashlights rays. "How about we go there tonight? Chihiro can drive us to the train station and we'll all spend the night there". Rin dared Akiko. While gesturing to the girl on her right with the flashlight in hand. Chihiro rolled her dark brown eyes at the two as she pulled her brown hair into a ponytail with her purple band that she always carried.

"Deal". Akiko accepted and shook Rins hand and so the deal was made.

"Wow this road is really bumpy." Chihiro muttered as they continued driving up the forest trail that led to the abandoned train station in the small grey car. The rocky road and dimming green leaves of the trees began to to become rougher and closed in. Chihiro squinted on the darkening path when she saw a small grey roundish egg like object in the middle of the road."What is that up there?"

Chihiro murmured peering closely at a small grey figure in the middle of the road. Noticing how fast the object was getting closer to them she slammed her foot onto the brake. The car came to a screeching stop as they almost crashed into the small grey statue of what appeared to be a frog in a sitting position. "Woah that was close." Chihiro sighed in a breath of relief. Before getting out of the car to unpack the things that they'd need for the night.

"Alright you guys ready to spend the night in the haunted amusement park?" Akiko said with a wicked smile. The three circled around to the front of the car with Akiko and Rin carrying blankets and chairs while Chihiro carried a tent and a box with a blow up mattress inside as they walked into the old amusement park train station.

They walked down the withered down old cobblestone path as they went under the ancient red train station. With colorful glass windows and a large exit arch. The station smelled of old plaster that was slowly decaying as time goes on. They soon went under the back archway that opened up into a grassy meadow with a line of rocks surrounding the edge of the steps and led to a small marketplace. The setting sun reflected off of the windows as the group walked closer to the center until they reached a tall red wooden lamp post that stood about 10ft high.

"We'll set up camp here for the night" said Akiko. Chihiro gazed at the different shops and a starnge sense of familiarity overcame her, like a moment of deva ju that she couldn't remember. After setting up camp the three began to explore the supposed "haunted" theme park.

"Hey look at this" said Akiko pointing to a wizzened old shop that looked as if it used to be a jewelry store with decrepted and abandoned jewelry inside. Though it did seem to start to change in brightness and allure as the sun lowered more into the hills.
