Katie had her best friend, Shauna, over for the night and while her parents were out of town and her brother was at his friend's. "Hey, Shauna!" She called to her friend as she walked down the driveway towards her. "Come inside, I have the movie ready."
After a few hours, Shauna told Katie that she felt sick. Not wanting to go home, Shauna quickly took it back and said she was fine. But, a few minutes later, Katie saw how ill her friend was and brought her up to her room so she could rest. She told her friend that she would be right back and quietly closed the door after flicking off the lights. Katie rode her bike, holding up a flashlight to cut through the dark night, and arrived ten minutes later at the drugstore around the corner. She handed the clerk her money for the bottle of medicine for Shauna and ran back outside. She rode back, squinting in the dark and swerving in rain puddles and hoped that her friend was feeling better. Wet from the rain, Katie huffed and walked into the house through the unlocked door. She tiptoed up the stairs and held the bottle in her hands. She paused at her bedroom door and walked in slowly. Just as she was about to turn around, thinking her friend was asleep, she heard movement from further inside the room. She stepped in further and closed the door behind her since she didn't want the light to disturb her friend although she knew she was awake. "Hey, Shauna, I have your medicine." She said and waited for an answer but all she got was silence. She guessed that her friend went back to sleep but she couldn't see anything in the darkness. She was about to flip on the lights to give Shauna her medicine when she looked down at the pill bottle. She lowered her hand from the switch. "I'm sorry, Shauna," she talked into the black of the room. "I got the wrong kind. I have to go back." All she got for a response were more rustles of the sheets and a groan. She looked at her glowing watch and saw that it was 12:00. The drugstore would close in fifteen minutes so she had to hurry. "I'll be right back. I have to go to the store again." She shut the door with a click and headed downstairs. Arriving at the drug store just in time, Katie ran in and got the medicine for Shauna, making sure to double check that it was the right kind. She pumped the pedals on her bike a bit slower now, but just fast enough so that when she pulled up to her house, the lights all melted together as a blur. She crashed her bike and ran to her front yard where bright yellow police tape marked its edges. Police cars and ambulances swarmed around her and grim-looking officials came up to her. "Who are you?" "I-I'm Katherine Mitchell, I live here; what happened?" She stuttered. He looked back at the three story house and then to her. "There has been a murder." Katie's voice shook with disbelief and she dared to ask. "Was it... a teenage girl?" "Yes." Katie gasped. "We need to ask you some questions." The officer said. "No, I want to go in, I need to go in." She demanded. Two more officers checked her identification and led her up her stairs to the second floor. People crowded around the entrance to her room but she pushed through them. There lay Shauna, pale and unmoving as shadows under her wide open eyes made them appear sunken in and shocked. Her fingers were curled and looked tense and her body lay in an odd position on the bed. A gleaming knife was lodged in her throat. Deep, red blood, still gushing from her veins seeped into the white pillowcase like a halo of death and suffering. Katie fell back and felt arms catch her. She didn't know what to do as she stared at the lifeless body of her friend. Suddenly, everyone seemed to disappear and dread rushed over her; she was compelled to turn around. She slowly rotated her head to the side. A message on the wall, written in crimson letters was addressed to her and it read: "Good thing you didn't turn on the lights at 12 o'clock."

I hoped you like my story and thought it was scary. This is a ghost story I learned at summer camp about seven years ago but I still remember it since it's my favorite. I changed it a little, but kept the core storyline the same
