"How way your day?" Mr. Baxter asked as Bethany walked through the door of their motel.
"Crappy." Bethany answered. She didn't feel like talking to him or to anyone. She needed answers.
"Look I'm going to a job interview. I have some food for you on the table. Enjoy!" Mr. Baxter exclaimed as he rushed out the door in his worn in suit.
"Listen, dad. I know there is not many jobs here in Ohio so good luck. Let me take a picture of you" Bethany said nicely.
Mr. Baxter posed for the cheap camera.
"Thanks Beth. I know our living conditions aren't the best anymore and I'm sorry. Hopefully we can get back on our feet soon enough." Mr. Baxter said, giving Bethany a hug.
As Mr. Baxter rushed out the door once more, Bethany went under her father's bed for clues to her mom or family. She didn't know any of her family except her mom and dad. Bethany knew they were hiding something. But what?
As Beth looked under his bed, she noticed a box in the corner of the room by the window. Was that always there? Bethany thought as she looked in the box. Inside the box was a picture frame with a person inside that had to have been her mom. There was also a bear stuffed animal, and a picture of Bethany. Bethany was in shock. Was this always there? She thought. She needed proof. But why would someone put this in here or why would her dad have all of these things?
Hmm.
She needed answers.
Wait hold on.
Why would her dad put a box in plain sight? Did he want her to look inside?
Bethany needed help.
There was only one person to go to.
Nathan.
