I crouched down behind the car, as my feet were aching due to the amount of crouching. I didn't want people knowing, I mean, anything could happen. It's been days now, I've been trying to survive out on my own for four days now. Four days! And all I've got with me is a dirty rucksack covered in muddy patches filled with a half empty bottle, a squished banana, a reading book and some makeup which I never even use that I accidentally put into my rucksack. Oh, and also a photo of my family and I. I miss them. If it wasn't for that stupid holiday, none of this would've happened. I wouldn't have ran away like this.

The distance was clear. Finally, after literally fifteen minutes I stood up; I walked along the pavement, trying not to step on the cracks. I suddenly eye a boy far in the distance, unable to see him clearly. Anyway, I gave a slight wave, and to my surprise he started to walk towards me. I was honestly so glad, so relieved to find help. When he eventually stood right next to me, he said in a rather posh way, "Yes, hello. Vot is zee matter?"

I scratched my nose nervously, but said normally, "Yes, um, well. Do you know any place where I could stay? For the night?"

He thought for a moment and smiled, "Yes, of course. Wait until zee morning, I will take you zer. Very big building. Lots of space."

Obviously, by the accent he was French. He spoke English quite well though. I was quite curious as to where this place was and what it was like, but I kept quite. Suddenly he grabbed my wrist and started to lead me up the road. Actually, I was a little frightened, I mean, I don't even know this person, and by my surprise he starts to take me somewhere.

I decided to ask, "Excuse me, where are you taking me?"

The expression on his face lets me know that he is quite sorry, but replies softly, "Oh, until tomorrow. You have nowhere to stay? You shall stay at mine, in the guest room. Where you be vom."

Oh, phew. I felt much better now I know what he's trying to do, I was really thankful. But I was confused by when he said 'vom.' Was it a slang word I didn't know about? That was a joke. But still, vom? I didn't get it.

I felt quite dumb, but asked anyway, "Vom? Sorry, what? Oh, and thank you very much."

He rubbed his eyes as if he was tired and he said warmly, "Welcome. And warm." He tried to say warm as best as he could, and I understood.

It made sense now. Well, I did feel quite bad for not understanding due to his accent, but I still followed him to his house. He stopped walking and turned to his left and so I noticed, this was his house. Well. It was much bigger than I expected it to be, since this place seemed like just a village. I wondered where this place actually was. Anyway, the boy leaded me into his home and I smiled kindly, as I shyly stepped into the house.
