Far Away

Chapter 1

Lucas couldn't get the thought on Maya leaving out of his mind. His best friend! Once your best friend leave, so does half of yourself. He just hated that she would leave. Lucas knew he wanted Maya to stay but he ponder on why she would. Lucas had text Maya asking a couple questions.

"Maya why would you move in with your aunt? Where does she live?" Lucas waited hours and hours to hear back from Maya. Finally after waiting 4 hours she replied back.

"I auditioned for a music record company a couple months ago, I love to sing so I have it a shot. Turns out I got accepted as a finalist. The auditions are in Louisville Kentucky at the KFC Yum center. Who ever wins gets to record with Hollywood Records and since the national anthem at the Kentucky Derby. It's not certain that I will move but if I win, the day I do leave is the last day I'll get to see you."
Lucas couldn't believe it. He had no idea she could sing! Lucas was so happy for her but, it made his decision so much harder.

""If I ask Maya to stay, I'm taking her future over. But I don't want to loose my better half, my best friend. The girl that never leaves my mind.""
Lucas did know what to do at this point and hes only getting a week to decide.

Maya didnt know what to do either. She wanted a career out of singing but she didn't want to leave Lucas. Lucas was something different for her. Maya has never been in a relationship so to finally find someone, its already break her young heart. Everything was just going so fast. She left the decision up to Lucas. She knew her best friend knew what was best. Maya knew Lucas didnt have to prove himself, she was just clueless and didn't know what to do.

Both Maya and Lucas were clueless and just so delusional. Teenagers. Mayas not even out of high school yet and shes already been offered a life time career. Lucas was having a normal life but knew that it was special, special because Maya was in it. Ever since Maya showed him around the school, he knew life wasn't going to be normal anymore. Lucas doesn't realize how lucky he was to have Maya in his life until now. He always took Maya for granted and didn't appreciate the friendship they had. He loved Maya its just he didn't put alot of effort into being best friends but he always knew that she was there when he needed her. When he was sad, Maya was always there. When he was mad, Maya was there to calm him down.
Only now is Lucas realizing that Maya was always there for him but, he was never there for her. All the scars and memories that could have been prevented if Lucas was just there.

Noticing that, Lucas didnt know Maya should stay. She was so miserable here and Lucas didnt help.
Lucas was just so stressed. His mind had been drawing a blank. Lucas was so lucky to have Maya in his life that he just didn't notice.

When Lucas was young, there was a quote that his mamma always told him.
"No one really cares until they're actually gone or dead. So keep em close or you'll regret it the rest of your life." That quote was finally making sence to him. He never really cared until Maya could leave. He never really cared until Maya was standing on top of thay roof crying her eyes out, hoping that all the pain would end.

Lucas talked to his dad. He had always came to his dad about everything since Lucas' brother died. Before he passed, his brother was always there for him to make decisions and never thought that his dad's advice was good. His dad only said the same 3 words everytime he needed advice. Now that his brothers gone, he could only ponder what he's dad meant.

"Make Good Decisions"

Maya had the same problems. Her mother always talked to her about singing and making a career about it.

"I expect great things from you Maya. You've been given a real gift."

Now Maya can think of is her mom. Her mom was the biggest supporter she had. Maya wanted to make mom proud. Now that Mayas aunt has rented an apartment, Maya no longer has to stay with Lucas. Which means less time they get to spend together until Maya heads off to Kentucky.
