All she wanted was to be a singer, perform on stage, singing to tunes that she wrote, and listening to people screaming out "Meredith! Meredith! Meredith!"
"Honey! The cab is here to pick you up!"
"Coming dad!" She dashed down the flight of stairs as she saw her mom trying to console her sister.
"Olivia, don't cry. Meredith is not leaving Nashville forever, she will come back. Perhaps one day you might even see her on the TV."
"Mom I'm watching The Fault In Our Stars, I'm not crying because of Meredith, it's because the movie is just so touching," her sister said.
"Thank you Olivia, I will miss you too." Meredith replied. She carried her overweight luggage into the cab and she gave her family one last wave, then she was on her journey to New York.
Once she arrived, she was on her way to Starbucks to buy her favourite drink. But Meredith didn't bring any money with her, and she didn't notice it until she was going to pay for her caramel latte. Just when she thought all hope was lost, a tall, rugged man with a jaw that must have been chiseled by Michelangelo himself, bronze eyes and a trendy haircut, told the cashier "I'm paying for this lady here," with his deep and sexy voice.
"Here you go, Miss?"
"I'm Meredith."
"So you're Meredith? I'm William."
They sat down on the 13th table in Starbucks and chatted awhile, about their stories and themselves. Within days they were madly in love, he took Meredith to places she had never been, and they were having the time of their lives.
"See that tree over there? I'm gonna carve both of our names on there."
"Forever?"
"And always."
They kept in touch after William went back to UK for a business trip, but they never actually had the time to talk with each other, face to face, as they were insanely busy. Once William was back, they met up at Maze by Gordon Ramsay, and Meredith had one of the best dinners she's ever had. Meredith was dressed in a skimpy black dress and put on a classic red lipstick; as she walked into the restaurant with William dressed in a custom made Armani suit. Their presence gave everyone an exquisite feel to the atmosphere. A raw ribeye steak, topped with fresh steamed asparagus, Caesar salad, a glass of red wine, with some laughters and jokes was the perfect dinner for Meredith.
"Let's get out of the city for a few days, away from the crowds."
"But I have yet to finish the album, I still have a lot of songs to record. Ed Sheeran is coming tomorrow to the studio, and I don't want to miss the chance to record a song with him."
A lot was going through her head at that moment, she knows if she misses this chance to record with Ed Sheeran, she definitely will regret it. But at the same time, she wanted to spend more time with William, because she never knew when she will meet him again. A week? A month? Or a year?
"Let's go William."
"Where?"
"A place far away from the crowds the place only you and I exist."
They drove to his cabin somewhere in Reading, Pennsylvania. By the time the sun was setting, the sky was filled with colours of pink, orange and yellow, while the clouds boasted mystical colours and the pale moon peeked at William and Meredith sharing their first kiss.
She went back to New York while William went back to UK to settle some unfinished business. He told Meredith that he was going to be away for a few months. But, Meredith saw William going into an apartment with a girl. They were holding hands as if they were a couple. When Meredith saw this, her heart was broken, she danced to forget him, she really wished he would come back and be at her side, to console her. Then she had an idea, she decided that she would cheat on William to get revenge on him.
It was December, Meredith was deeply in love with Zachary, a guy she met online. They hit off right after they met. But she didn't love him as much as she love William, because whenever William texts her, she would drop everything and text him back or just to answer a phone call, even if Zachary was there. But, William didn't know that she was cheating behind him, nor was Zachary, and on December 9th, he came back to New York in secret, to surprise Meredith. He was waiting at Meredith's apartment, waiting for her, at the exact moment, Meredith was with Zachary and they were going back to her apartment.
"Who is he?"
"My boyfriend."
"Then who am I?"
"I saw you with a girl at the apartment, William! I'm not stupid!"
"You mean Alyssa? What you've saw is true but I can't stop thinking about you, every time I was with Alyssa, your rosy cheeks and sweet smile haunts me. You made me realise what was love Meredith. I'm sorry, I was foolish."
"Band-aids don't fix bullet holes, I still got scars on my back from your knife. It ends here William!" Meredith sobbed. She pushed William aside and went in her apartment with Zachary.
"I can't believe you cheated on me over some English guy!"
"I'm sorry Zachary! Could we talk about this some other time?"
"I'm tired of your drama, Meredith! Now you finally got your revenge on William, what are you going to do to me?"
"Look Zachary now that William is out of the way, I can start to love you more now."
"What? Did you mean that you didn't love me over the past few weeks? I can't believe you Meredith! I...I....I think we should break up. I can't tell if you're lying to me or not, after what happened to you and William."
"No! Don't leave me Zachary, I don't want to lose you too!"
"You already did."
Zachary slammed the door and left Meredith all alone in her apartment.
Meredith was stressed and as she closed her eyes, tears slowly ran down her face. She had wiped them so much they were red and swollen. At that moment in time, William sent Meredith a message.
"Could we get back together Meredith? I've learned from my mistake, I can't imagine what my life would be like without you. All I'm asking is a second chance."
"In your wildest dreams William. We had our moments, and I loved you a lot, I really did, but this wasn't how I pictured our future to be."
It was the last message Meredith ever sent to William.
Meredith called up Olivia and she consoled Meredith for the breakups she went through, she told Meredith that she is lucky to finally cut loose all the strings that were attached to her, she shouldn't let this get in her mood since she was going to release her very first album soon, and she should be celebrating for her success instead of crying over people that aren't worth it.
On December 13th, she was finally on tour. Her album was completely out, and it was a roaring success. She was busy sound checking and rehearsing again and again, so that she wouldn't make any mistake on her first concert. She even had Mick Jagger as her special guest, she knew the night was going to be perfect, but the thoughts of William still echoes through her head. "Meredith! Meredith! Meredith," the crowds shouted. Meredith was in her dressing room, still having flashbacks of the first time they met, their first kiss. "Meredith you can do this!" She told herself. She went up to the stage and waved to the crowds and sang. At that moment, she knew she was clean, it was a beginning of new chapter in her life. She lost him but she found herself and somehow that was everything.
