The young mage peered out at the city burning below. He was horrified at the sight. His whole life had been in this city. It was the only home he had ever known, and now it was gone. He fell to his knees in despair, and the fire rose to consume him. However, as it did, he heard a voice that seemed to come from all around him and from inside his head. The last thing he heard it say before the flames completely consumed him was, "You must break the cycle. The Infernal Torch must be lit with the fire of righteousness before it is too late."
