CRASH!

The lightning struck the tree, bursting it into flames.

A gorilla rushed through the forest with its offspring on her back, followed by another gorilla.

Rain fell heavily on their backs. They kept going.

“Wait,” the gorilla with the offspring stopped, panting.

“What?” the other gorilla breathed heavily.

            “Is he still there?”

They kept quiet and listened carefully.

“I can’t hear him, let’s get Abby back home, she’s already in a cold.”

Suddenly, the gorilla with the offspring was alarmed.

“No, Alvin! Listen!” she called out.

But it was too late, the hunter jumped out from the bushes. He was holding a tranquilizer gun.

“Don’t make me fire this gun!” he yelled.

“Go, Jane. I’ll hold him off!” Alvin shouted.

            “But what about…”

            “GO!!!”

Alvin pounced on the hunter, not caring that he had a gun.

Jane ran, ran like she had never ran before, clutching little Abby to make sure she won’t fall off as she held back her tears.

            BAM!

            Jane stopped, shivering.

She knew she will never see him again.

            Tears prickled down her cheeks.

“Come on, Abby. Let’s get you home. Daddy wouldn’t want us to look back,” she whispered and went home, sobbing.
