A Dragon's Amulet

Prologue

My name , is Braelyn Ember; total badass Alpha. In my town, I'm the most powerful Alpha here. Yes, I'm bragging. My whole life all I've ever known was fighting. I was orphaned at a young age. Now, you might think I was one of those aimless children, lost and sad.... And I was. Kind of. Well that was until I shifted for the first time- into a fucking dragon! Boy was that a shock to Ms. Shirley, the head of the house. She peed her fucking pants! I still remember the smell to this day. I also remember the pain and fear that came with the shift. The feeling of all your bones breaking and forming into the huge, stronger bones of a dragon and the fear that I was alone. I was 16 at the time and 14 when I found out about my hybrid nature.Vampire and Shifter. Now? I'm 22 and living the best life any supernatural can have. My years of highly classified training in just about everything landed me a hunting job with the Devil's Mercenaries(DM). I hunt the supes that go rogue or that are too bad for the supe police (SPO) to handle. There are a number of supernatural classes in the world; the vamps,the shifters,the mages, and the elementals. The vamps are pretty self explanatory; everyone knows about vampires nowadays. Except, don't listen to Twilight. They don't fucking sparkle. They also eat food along with blood. The shifters are the power houses; Dragons and wolves at the very top strength/power wise. Dragons are the only shifter animal near extinction. There's only a few of us left in the world. The Mages are the spell casters. Pretty simple but make no mistake; deadly. And no- they don't have worts or green skin or pointy hats or fairy wings.
Last but not least, the elementals. The people who can call on any element they want at anytime. How fucking cool is that?! Anyway, every class has a King or Queen as their ruler. Every 10 years give or take, the Kings and Queens take in their prodigy for their class. As long as you stay within your class and your laws, you'll survive in the supe world. Now back to my history.
Normally, I have a no shifting rule. In general my dragon is messy as hell. She gives no fucks. I train with her almost daily keeping her as strong as me. The last time I was on a job , I unleashed the beast and well- it didn't end so nicely for the city nor the rogue I was chasing. I was picking Mage out of my teeth for weeks.... Anyway, after that I vowed to not use the beast unless absolutely necessary. Now I have an amulet from the last king to keep her inside. She doesn't like it much but she's used to it now. I normally just bring her forward for opinions , healing,and someone to listen to my jokes and hilarious wit.
Hey, what's a girl to do? It gets lonely sometimes! Eh that doesn't matter when I have my pack though: Jax, badass wolf-shifter, Ella, scary-as-hell vampire, Magnus, tough as nails Mage  and finally River , bat shit crazy elemental with a fancy for water. With them by my side we could do anything- including get into a loooottt of trouble.
