"Sometimes I am reminded of that boy, the boy who never seemed to notice... Until that one day."

I was upset because I couldn't play the game we were playing in gym and was sitting on the benches because of my sprained ankle I had won myself the day before, best much ever I know. And this is my favorite game. But instead I just have to sit here and watch.

All of a sudden I notice out of the corner of my eye, a boy from my class come over and, not really sit next to me, but he sat about two benches down and about just a foot or two over from in front of me. I was surprised when he said to me "bummer huh?", not because he happened to notice that I was upset, but just from the fact that he never talked to me before.

He was a so called "popular boy", all the girls loved him and he was just generally friends with everyone and no one initially disliked or hated him for anything. He had short brown hair and, if I must admit, really beautiful green eyes that just seemed to glimmer when he looked at you. A nice guy I guess but I never thought to talk to him before, and I'm not very popular and kinda socially awkward so. Instead of really thinking too much of it I just said "u-uh yeah." I stuttered! So lame. But then he kinda gave me a side eye and looked at my leg. Surprising to me, he kept talking. "This is your favorite game isn't it?"

I instantly froze thinking, 'what? How did he know that? Did he read my mind? I didn't ever tell him?'. I believe he noticed my surprised look and turned around and said "oh sorry! I only know because I heard you yesterday at school saying to yourself how much you couldn't wait to play." He said this while waving he hands back and forth as if surrendering and seemed flustered. And then out of curiosity I forced myself into saying, "How could you hear me?" He seemed to get even more flustered at the question, but then he calmly sat down and, I swear dodging the question asked " Hey, do you know where I live?"

I almost flipped my shit inside my head freaking out from everything happening at once and I didn't understand his question so I just kinda shook my head rapidly in a no motion trying to get him to tell me why he asked that with out me talking. He seemed to get it and said " It took a few months for me to notice but, I think we live across the street from each other." He said this so calmly and then gave a huge happy smile as if he wanted me to be happy too. But I was at from happy. I was just so flustered and confused at this all that I wanted to faint or something. I forcefully said in a wavering voice "o-oh oh really? Haha."

I could feel my face completely red and couldn't seem to get a hold of myself, he was just staring at me intently as if trying to understand something and he just kept leaning in trying to examine my features and I just wanted him to stop looking at me! All of a sudden I hear a guy yell "Hey kiari! Get over here and play the game!" He turns away and says " I'll be right over!"

I felt so saved! As if the heavens sent a blessing he turned to me and said, "Well, see you later than neighbor!" With the biggest smile ever. How could anyone smile like that? It's almost unfair.
He jumped of the bench, looked at me, then I noticed him look away and blush I got so confused, until he said. "I like your hair by the way Alice!" And walked away.
