A Battle With A Demon

Village life

I'm Athar I'm 14 as of today. my eyes are blue. I have white hair which is weird in my clan but my mom says I get it from my dad. I have this weird Mark on my left arm I keep it bandaged because my mom says I need to since it looks kind of scary. I'm average height for someone my age. I'm fast and strong for someone who doesn't use magic. I usually keep to myself and train my body to be able to use magic. And life in my village is pretty layed back most of the time. My daily routine is waking up an doing chores and I go to train. I should mention my clan is full of powerful lightning users but we aren't allowed to study magic until we turn 14. So that means I can start my training in lightning magic tomorrow.
Usually those starting out would train under a parent or other family member, but my dad got exiled for a crime no one will even tell me about. And my mother she never studied magic do to an illness that block off magic from within the body so she could never become a mage. Luckily the village priest decided to oversee my studies. He told me "one can never tame the demon within only seal it away or let it devour you". I still don't know what he meant by that but the books he gave might explain that.
The village is quite small this year there will only be 6 kids turning 14 and beginning studies. Some of us are really close and some are distant. There's Sairen kageto girl who didn't come from the village and the clan elders are trying to decide if they should let her study or not. She is kind of weird she never talks and usually hides in the trees reading. She has long black hair,a she's kind of short, green eyes, and a silent expression on her face like she's needs help but is to scared to ask. Then there's Haya Akaizuma he's tall has black hair and blue eyes. He's the fastest among most of us even amongst the adults when they are not using magic. Some say he's as fast as lightning. He has a happy attitude and can make friends with anyone. Then there the cool guy Daku he was the first to turn 14. He has black hair and blue eyes that are almost black because they're si dark. He's about my height and he always acts like he has something better to do than be around us in the village. I talked to him once about what he wanted to do when he turns 14 and he told me " I want to leave the village and study at an academy in another country after learning the clan's art of magic. We haven't spoken much since then. Yuri is a good friend she is always in high spirits no matter what. She always make sure everyone is happy and I've never seen her cry. She's short, has pink hair, and a smile that is always on her face. Akaze she is .mysterious to us we never see her much. I train together once a week with Haya but we never talk much. And when she does talk it is always intelligent she never says anything useless. She is tall with red hair and eyes. She's fast but not that strong.
In a month all six of us will leave the village with the preist for a month to train in the lesser demon grounds with Haya and Akaze's dads for protection. I should explain there are areas where demons gather usual it's just ones of the same strength level as them. They will open hell gates throughout the area creating this fog from hell that's almost green. The gates will allow other demons to pass through. The preist says we need to train as much as we can so that gives me 1 month to learn all the magic I can. I want to keep it basic so I do t get too cocky. I'm thinking of becoming a speed caster.
There several types of magic casters speed casters use spell that don't take to long to charge and can focus magic into their hands and feet for close combat. Healers as the names suggest will heal people in and out of combat. They're defenseless will casting so it's a rough job to have. A enchanter can enhance one self's and others abilities. A chanter is someone who use strong spells that need to be charged over a long while and most of the time Can not move to much and risk losing concentration and have to recharge the spell if it doesn't backfire. A spell that backfires is when the spell was either charged way to long or disrupted while charging causing it to explodes in the caster's hands. Swordsmen are casters who cast spell through a blade which most commonly used for flaming swords and such. Full body casters are casters who engulf them selves in their magic and stick to close combat. Readers will examine the situation and set traps and determine an enemies strategy.
The attribute of magic depend on parents most of the time sometime you get something different. The attributes are fire, water, wind, earth, lightning, metal, light, and darkness. Darkness magic is banned throughout the world due to the fact that it requires sacrifices, bit that doesn't stop underground associations from ussing it.
Training starts tomorrow and I need to be prepared for which ever rode I take. The preist is nice for allowing me to study under him. He says I have a chance to learn 2 types of magic with time and training.
