"Who cares." Jaime mumbled angrily.
Suddenly we were out of the forest and in the house.
I gasped.
Jaime was looming over me. His gaze was intense and eyes were cold, making me falter.
I wanted to run, but an invisible force was keeping my body still.
"Stay away from Aden," He spat. "Don't ever speak to him. Do you understand me? He's but another guest not to bother to you. Alright?"
I couldn't answer. Couldn't even breathe.
He stayed there for a few more moments, keeping me in this stage of apprehensiveness.
Then he broke his gaze, allowing me to breathe and move again.
I bent over, taking in painful lungfuls of cool air.
I was becoming sick of all this fear and anxiety and terror. What was he going to do to me if i talked to Aden? Kick me out of his home? At this point there was nothing i'd like more.
"No," I said in between breaths.
He swung around. His expression became hard.
Fear attempted to control me, but i wouldn't let it.
Becoming numbed to it, i stood up straight.
For a moment he looked confused. Then as if he realized he had made a mistake, he shook his head and left.
I sat down on a couch, across from the blazing fireplace. I stared into the bright warm flames for hours on end. Thinking about nothing and everything. What is his problem? Whats with the tension between Aden and him? Why does he make me afraid.
I stayed like that until I felt someone sit beside me.
My eyes opened. Had I been asleep?
Aden was sitting beside me, staring into the flames.
I looked around. People were walking in and out of the room. Pausing for a moment then moving again, in an odd way.
"There not real." He said simply.
My gaze connected with his.
"What do you mean?"
"Jaime doesn't want me to talk to you because he doesn't want you to wake up."
"Uh huh," I said unsure.
"Heart, you know there is something wrong with this place...Like it isn't complete... it's not reality."
I wearily nodded my head, trying to make it look like i understood
"No. Don't give me that look. Just take my words seriously. Okay?"
"Fine." I shrugged.
"Look at them."
"What about them?"
"Have you ever had a conversation with anyone here besides Jaime and I?"
I mulled over it for a moment.
He was right about the uneasiness. It was always there, making itself less noticeable in the shadows of my consciousness.
"They aren't real."
I looked back at Aden. He was staring at a group of people off to the corner.
