Ow. My eyes flutter open and quickly shut due to a bright light in the room. My eyes quickly open. Wait, room?! Where am I?! I sit up quickly and suddenly feel dizzy. Then I felt a dull throbbing in my abdomen. I lift up my shirt slowly and saw white bandages wrapped around my stomach. I slowly unwrapped it and soon regret what I did. My stomach was torn up, literally. I squinted so I could get a closer look. There were so many marks and stitches on my stomach. They looked like..............bite marks? Then it hit me. I remembered where I was and what happened to me. My stomach started to grumble. Great. That's just what I needed to go along with my pain. I let my shirt fall back in place and threw the bloodied bandages on the floor next to my bed. I needed new ones anyway. I fell back on my pillow. I pondered whether I should get up or not. My pondering didn't last long though. My stomach won the fight. When was the last time I ate? I sat up again and slowly turned my body and legs to the side of bed. Ow again. Then I glanced down at my feet and then at the floor. Darn my shortness. This is so going to hurt. I thought. I inhaled and exhaled. Here goes nothing. I slowly fall down to the floor. Pain erupted from my stomach and I doubled over. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow.

Breathing in and out, I slowly stood up again. Well not all the way. I kind of looked like the Hunchback of Notre Dame the way I was standing. On a normal day, I would have laughed at myself. Today wasn't normal though. I was beyond tired and filled with pain. Not only physically, but emotionally. I started making my way to the door of my room. It was too much effort, but my stomach needed food. When I finally reached the door, I was panting like a dog and sweat was dripping off my forehead.

I turned the doorknob and opened the door. I trudged down the long hallway looking for the kitchen. I can't make it. I thought. Yet, I kept going. At one point, I stopped to catch my breath. I soon held my breath when I heard voices in one of the rooms near me. I totally forgot about how hungry I was. I limped over to the door of the room with the voices coming from it and put my ear to the door.

"Yes, I found her." I heard a masculine, but boyish, voice say.

I caught my breath. Was this person talking about me? Naaahhh. I continued eavesdropping on the conversation.

"What does she look like? That's a weird question, sir. Okay, sorry sir. I'll tell you."

So he WAS talking to another man and on the phone, since I couldn't hear the other end of the conversation.

"She has beautiful long blonde hair, which is so blonde that it looks white. She has fair skin and a dash of freckles across her nose. She is short, probably around five feet. She looks fit. Oh, and she has unusually bright emerald green eyes." He finishes.

No doubt about it, he was totally talking about me. I blushed at his description of me, but soon felt fear grip my heart. Why am I being talked about and what does the boy mean he found me? My eyes widened at the terrifying thought about what he might have meant at that he found me. No, no, no. That would be the only reason.

"When will you be here, sir?"

   My heart literally stopped.

"Okay sir, see you soon." He hung up and did not know he was walking towards the door until it was too late.

The door opened and his eyes widened when he saw me. My heart was pounding and was hyperventilating. I can't go back! I can't go back! No, no, no! I looked up at the figure before me and realized who it was. It was Jake. The one who saved me, cared for me, then betrayed me. He was going to send me back to my abusive family. He probably knew my father.

Even though my body was screaming in pain, I ran as best I could through the house to find my exit. I was feeling dizzy and nauseous again, and my stomach was throbbing. I was crying, not  only from the excruciating pain, but the pain of betrayal. I trusted this stranger. It was a mistake. Why did I ever trust him. I stopped trusting people a long time ago. What a stupid, stupid mistake! I was broken.

   "LAILAH!" I heard Jake scream.

I didn't stop running. I felt like I was going to pass out, but I knew I had to get out of here. I finally found a door and hoped it was the exit as I opened it. I was rewarded with the outskirts of a forest. I started running again, tripping over myself, through the forest. My vision was getting blurry and my coordination was failing. As I looked behind me to see if Jake was following me, I tripped over a large tree root and sprawled out on the ground. My body was failing and was trying to shut down. I felt my eyes beginning to close again, but I wouldn't let them. I needed to get away. I was not going back to my family. Pppfff, family. They weren't even close to a family. They were strangers to me now and always will be. I attempted to crawl away, while my stomach was trying to explode and tears were streaming down my face, even though I knew it was useless.

"LAILAH! WHERE ARE YOU?" Jake shouted very close by.

My heart, head, and stomach were pounding. No, he can't find me. I saw a river behind me. Maybe if I could make it over there, I could hide in the water. Or drown myself, so I couldn't go back. I tried to crawl towards it, but failed, as I felt dizzy again and dots beginning to blur my vision. I also felt a warm liquid seeping through my shirt, quite heavily I might add.

I heard footsteps behind me, so I looked back. My heart stopped yet again. It was Jake. His eyes widened once he saw me. He ran as fast as he could towards me.

He wasn't going to touch me. I felt anger and hatred rise in me. He betrayed me. I used the last of my energy to scream at him, "NOOOO, YOU WILL NOT TOUCH ME YOU-OU-OU MONSTER!" Venom dripping in my voice.

He stepped back a bit looking confused and full of hurt, then it turned to sadness.

Is he pitying me? How dare he! I thought. I felt my stomach contract and felt energy rush through me. I heard Jake gasp and I looked up at him and glared. Then I realized he wasn't looking at me, but was what was behind me. I looked behind me and my eyes widened so much they looked like saucers. The river behind had erupted and walls of water were up in the air and were slowly dissipating the water quite forcefully at its surroundings. That was so weird.

Then I felt my eyes drooping at an alarming speed. My breathing was slowing down quite dramatically, and I felt my body going numb. I whimpered  a little bit when my stomach started to feel like it was on fire and started to throb again. Jake must've heard my whimper because he looked back at me and he looked alarmed. He came rushing over to me, but I still didn't want him to touch me.

With my last bit of energy, I whispered, "I hate you. Don't you dare touch me." Then my eyes shut.
