It all started about. Uh... Wait, hold on. I think I got it. Oh yeah, 5 years ago. Wait, seriously? That long ago? Dang... Uh, well, anyways. I woke up in the back of a car, I sat up and looked out the window. We were rolling down an empty street, the buildings towering at least three floors. Trash was everywhere, windows were broken and bricks were lying on the ground. This was one of the better parts of the town. I looked towards the driver and a man in a black suit and bowler hat was driving. I looked at him curiously. The man looked into the rear-view mirror and acknowledged me. "Good morning Miss," He smiled "I'm glad to see you are awake." The man turned right, not a single car was in the street. "Where am I?" I looked around the car, it smelled like cigars. "We saw you lying next to the dumpster. So we took you in, but don't worry, we'll help you get back on track." The man looked back at me and smiled. "What? No, I... I'm not homeless, this has got to be a mistake!" I pleaded for him to turn back. "Ma'am, I'm sorry but we do not know if you have a family. We know what a homeless child looks like, we see more and more everyday. You seem to fit the description of 'homeless.' baggy clothes, no adult in sight and shivering in the corner." The man started to slow down. "Here is your stop, Ma'am." He put the car in park and opened his door. he walked around to my door and helped me out. "We shall get you situated. Don't be scared. We are only here to help." The man gave me a reassuring smile, but at this point, he came off as creepy. We walked up to the front door and the man rang the doorbell. I looked at my surroundings. The windows were boarded up, and in the lawn I could spot something shiny. Glass bottles were everywhere, and the door looked worn and faded. A man wearing a faded blue shirt came to the door. "Hello, and sorry, we are not, oh, Mr. Spalds. I'm sorry, I didn't know you were coming! Is this your daughter?" He bent down and smiled. "No, Mr. Jonhas, this is your new... Guest." Mr. Jonhas frowned and stood up. He laughed. "Mr. Spalds, sir, my business is boys only, we made an agreement on that." "I understand your frustration Mr. Jonhas, but now is not the time nor place for this." Mr. Jonhas smiled through his teeth. "I understand," Mr. Jonhas nodded. "Sir." Mr. Spalds bowed. "Now, let's get Miss..." He looked down at me. I stood there, scared. Mr. Spalds nudged me. I didn't say anything. Mr. Spalds smiled. "She'll come around..." He walked back towards his car. Mr. Jonhas sighed. He pointed towards the door. "Inside, now." I just stood there. "Aw, come on. Are you really going to do this to me on day one? Get. Inside. Now."
