Chapter 1: The First Step

MONDAY, August 8th, 2016.
It was the first day of  junior year, the year most Junior's set their first step into the Junior and Senior building. My Nanna had always told me, the first step you take in a building, is the beginning of something new, and that no one should ever fear 'new'. People crowded the hallways, running to their friends in excitement. I had an eye out for my friends but I couldn't seem to find them. I was the lone rider at the moment. Me and most of my current friends had been together since elemantary school, so we were always there for each other. It was Sarai,Gracelyn, Avery, Carolyn, Adan, And Ravina.

"Maylee!!" I heard a screech come from an unknown place in the hallway.

I looked around and saw Ravina running towards me.

"Ravy! I missed you." I cried.

"Girl, you just saw me last weekend." She said smacking her lips.

"One week is already too much.." I said with puppy eyes.

"I'm very special." She said sarcastically.
"Where's everyone else, Rav?"

"Carolyn's changing her pants cause she got in trouble for 'breaking the dress code', Adan is with Carolyn, Avery is trying to get into Spanish instead of French, and of course, Gracelyn is twisting tongues with Ezekiel!" Ravina stated.

Gracelyn had dated a guy named Ezekiel  from middle school to the present, and it was a perfect ship, until he broke up with her or she broke up with him every two semesters. Gracelyn and Moses were both born in Africa, so our 'OG squad' teased her about them being completely perfect for each other, at least until they're relationship got old.

"Where is Saraila?" I asked, she hadn't said where Rai was.
Ravina was about to say something till I felt arms hugging me from behind.
Saraila didn't like her name, so she got us to call her Rai or Sarai.

"Right here!" I heard, I automatically knew that it was Saraila because of her voice. I quickly turned around and hugged her.

"I missed you M-Lee"" She said, using my nickname that she made for me.

"I missed you too Rai." I said as she moved on to Ravina to hug.

As Ravina and Saraila started hugging, there came the rest of my friends running towards us all together.
After everyone greeted each other, we all seperated and went to our classes.
I walked into a full room of people talking and a few people throwing paper wads at each other. Of course it was the trouble makers, known by everyone as the 'gansta's'. Their was one seat open, and only one. I walked over to it and sat down, dropping my stuff on the ground.

"I can't imagine how soar your stuff is feeling." I heard an unfirmiliar voice say from the desk to the right of me.

I looked over and it was a boy with beautiful blue eyes, a well done razor cut, and a football hoodie on. I assumed he was a new boy, cause I had never seen him, and it was a small town so everyone knew mostly each other.

"I'm pretty sure my stuff is not a living organism." I said as I grinned at his sarcastic remark.

"Wow, your smart for a blonde." He said looking at my hair.
