Ryanne and I grabbed our nearly identical black hoodies and headed out with her dog Jake following behind us. The cool rain felt good on my face. I followed Ryanne carefully up the ladder that lead to the roof, hoping I wouldn't slip. I sat down next to Ryanne, I could feel the rain water seep into my pants. Well great I thought to myself. She started playing Knives and pens, as we admired the purple strands of lighting coming from the grey- black clouds. The music started playing. We didn't talk. Ryanne just sat there wide eyed admiring the sky and tapping her foot to the beat of the music. I just sat there thinking of what Chris was doing, probably admiring the rain as well. The light rumbles of Thunder turned loud and the lightning became more violent. I started to get a bit worried. What if I got struck by lighting. What if we get caught. Ryanne put her head down on the roof and closed her eyes. What the hell is she doing? Who can she enjoy this madness? "Ryanne, I think we should go in, this is a little to crazy for me."
"Just lay down and close your eyes, you only fear what you don't understand. The storm has a voice, no one ever listens to it, it's time someone does." Ryanne said calm and poeticly.
I always thought it was cool but strange how she could go from a hyper energizer bunny to a inspirational emo hippie thing.
"But I'm freaking cold."
She did not reply. I didn't want to leave her alone, but at the same time if I went in maybe she'd follow. I got up and started going down the ladder. She was still up there.
"Well I'm going inside to get food and dry off, sooooo, I'm going to steal your pizza pockets to sum it up."
She got up instantly at the sound of pizza pockets.
We headed in together, cold and shivering.
