Josh's POV

I started up my car and pulled out onto the street as drops of rain showered over my thoughts. The radio came on streaming soft sounds to fill through out the vehicle. I cranked up the volume to erase every sick demon trying to mess with my mind. I needed to get away, go for a drive, forget pain.
I wouldn't go back until I got some sort of message hinting "everything is going to be ok."

The truth is nothing was ok. I had just ended things with Debby. It went well but deep inside I feel empty, like I did something wrong. We weren't getting anywhere and we both knew that, but for some reason I still feel guilty. I hate that feeling. On top of that I had gotten in a terrible fight with Brendon. I just needed to get out for a bit. To think things through and figure out my life.

I turned the corner into the city to find myself a gas station. Lights were lit down the streets yet the city wasn't awake. Every shop closed, every restaurant empty, every sidewalk vacant. Only a few drunks spilling them selves out over the curbs. Every so often you would here a shout from an alley or a raddle from stray cats in the trash bins. I still felt alone.

The gas station had letters blinking in bright red with a few bulbs out, giving off a horror movie vibe. I hopped out of my car and pulled my camoflauge coat over my shoulders to escape the frost. After filling my tank I turned over toward the fluorescent lights strung across the ceiling in the station showering over snacks. I hadn't eaten in hours so I decided it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a bag of chips.

**
"That'll be $3.26."

I pulled out a five from my back pocket and replaced the bag of chips.

"Keep the change."

I opened up the bag as I head out the door to my car. I heard a voice coming from the side of the building, possibly someone in pain. Crying even.
I decided to proceed to my car and not bother them.

"SHUT UP!"

The voice became louder and startled me, I turned around to see if the person was talking to me. Me eyes met a small weak boy sitting up against the side of the building.

I approached him and squatted in front of him, tears staining his cheeks. He held his hands in fists above his head as he seemed to be yelling at himself and putting himself down. As my shadow crossed over him he glanced up at me and fear shook through his body once he rushed to wipe his tears and sit up straight. I gestured him a simple smile and kneeled down in front of his beaming brown eyes.

"Is everything alright?"
