I woke up, screaming at the top of my lungs. I panted hard, sweat trickling down my forehead and neck. Another one of my nightmares.

I still dream about what happened a year before. But now, the nightmare just comes when I least expect it. I managed to accept my past and move on to the present for a better future.

"Hey, another nightmare?", my bedroom door creaked open and Adam Jenkins, my sorta big bro, stepped inside and sat on my bed. He's my sorta big bro because right after I fell...

I curled my body, and hoped that the cold would go away but it didn't. It was raining really hard. I landed gently on the ground but still, my whole body hurt like hell because of all the deep gashes that the Shadows left on me. My teeth chattered loudly. I didn't even notice how long I was lying on the cold, hard cement.

Numbness swept through my whole body. I couldn't feel anymore. Am I dying?, I thought. Is this death? But I'm an angel. A Forbidden angel. I can't die because I was sentenced to live in the human world forever. I was sentenced to suffer forever.

So, this is part of my suffering? How fatal. How ruthless.

But then, just when I thought I was really going to die, a rumbling sound made me open my eyes.

A white Starex stopped before me and an absolutely gorgeous guy with bright green, smiling eyes; cream white complexion; chestnut brown hair; upturned nose; and 6-foot height stepped out from the driver's seat. he was shaded under a black folding umbrella.

"Miss, miss! Are you alright?", he kneeled down beside me and shaded me under his umbrella.

I groaned--not with pain--but with numbness.

"You're cold.", he removed his oversized, black airbreaker and draped it over my dead-like body.

He carried me into the backseat of his Starex, turned the aircon off and sat on the space between the front seat and the backseat.

"Its gonna be alright, okay? Trust me. I'm gonna take you to the nearest hospital. Don't worry cause I'll take care of the bills.", he smiled reassuringly while rubbing my left hand in his own.

I wanted to smile back--to thank him for his generosity--but at the same time, I also wanted to shout stop because rubbing my hand sent daggers piercing through my whole arm.

He patted my hands for the last time, made sure that jacket covered my upper body entirelym and returned to the driver's seat.

He drove the Starex to a nearby hospital. I had the chance to read the name of the hospital when he lead the car to the parking lot. Cherub Sanctuary General Hospital. What a weird name. But somehow, it stirred something from the back of my mind. Cherub Sanctuary? Where have I heard of that place before?

Then suddenly, I remembered.

Cherub Sanctuary was the place where Ava Jenkins once lived.

At the hospital,

After a while, I woke up with the sound of something like a machine.

Tut...tut...tut...tut..tut...

It beeped continually.

I tried to open my eyes but the brilliant white light made me close them again.

Then, slowly, I blinked my eyes repeatedly to make my sight accostumed to the heavenly brightness.
