Erin awoke in her room, a familiar figure slept next to her. Suddenly she remembered she had a job but dismissed the thought when she remembered it was Saturday and they didn't have a major case. Jay stirred next to her as she snuggled her body against his. "Good morning sleepyhead," she said. Their relationship was at a good point, although no one knew that. Everyone thought they'd kept with the whole professional-listen-to-Voight thing.
Jay rubbed his eyes and turned to look at Erin. "Good morning it is. Waking up next to you is always good," he said. He kissed her forehead and asked, "So what do we have planned for today? What about a nice jog in Millennium Park?" Erin groaned, "Oh come on Jay. Jogging. We're in the middle of March besides, I don't feel so good to jog around." Jay began to chuckle a bit at her lazy attitude, but he knew she was just tired because of the long week they had gone through.
Jay was exhausted and felt sick because of his allergies, so staying in bed made it feel a bit worse, not that he didnt want to stay in bed with Erin all day. He asked, "How about I go and get you some of those doughnuts from Dunkin' that we both love and you stay here in bed? I'll only be gone for a minute, okay?"
Erin knew he was getting tired of bed so she nodded in agreement, "Don't take long. We can snuggle and watch a movie together." Jay grinned as he stepped into the bathroom to shower and Erin went back to sleep.
Jay walked out of the steaming bathroom to find a fast asleep Erin snuggled on the bed. She was so beautiful, he didn't know what he had done to end up with such a grand prize, not that she was a prize, he just thought she was too good of a person for him. That he didn't deserve her. But her knew she loved him too. He put on his favorite Blackhawks sweatshirt and some gray joggers and his sneakers. Simplicity. He kissed Erin's forehead before leaving the apartment, heading down to his car.

|25 minutes later|

The sound of her phone vibrating on the nightstand woke Erin up. Ugh, she thought. "Lindsay," she answered. "Hello Ms. Lindsay. We are calling from Mercy Hospital in downtown. He wanted to let you know right away that a man has been in a car accident and he had your phone number registered as an emergency contact. Looks like, Mr. Halstead here was in a really bad car accident this morning coming out of a neighborhood Dunkin' Donuts. I'm am truly sorry to inform you this, but Mr. Halstead did not make it. The impact from the vehicle made his car a complete loss. He was severely injured and died on the way to the hospital. We did everything we could, which in his case, there wasn't much to do.
Erin tossed and turned on the bed, unable to awaken from her nightmare. "No, no. You have the wrong person. Jay! Please, Jay! Come back," Erin said aloud. "Erin, baby. Wake up, I'm right here. Erin," Jay spoke as he gently shook her body. Erin regained her senses and was finally able to open her eyes, Jay was in full view. "Jay, you're okay," Erin said as she let go of a breath she had been holding onto. "Hey baby, I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere. I have the doughnuts in the kitchen. It's alright," Jay said as he laid down next to her, engulfing her in his protective arms.
After a few minutes Erin had finally calmed down, she said, "Oh Jay. I had a dream- nightmare. It was horrible. They called me, told me you were dead. It was a car accident." She gently nudged his shoulder before saying, "See, Jay. That's the exact reason why I always drive. From now on, you're not allowed to go get doughnuts without me. I couldn't bare to loose you for some doughnuts," she spoke, a small chuckle escaped her mouth.
Jay held onto her small frame and said, "Okay, okay. From now on you drive, no questioning that. And we can stop getting doughnuts for a while if you'd like, stay away from them. You don't want me to get fat, do you?" They both cracked a smile. "Well of course not, Mr. Halstead, that would be a shame," Erin said sarcastically. They both got up from the bed and walked to the kitchen together. They were about to sit down when Erin's phone rang, it was Voight. "Lindsay," she said, her usual answer. "I hope you and Jay aren't too busy. When you get a chance both of you come down to the district. There's a new case we were just assigned. It's huge. We need you here as fast as possible, too much is on the line. Come quick and be safe," Voight said before ending the call. The last line took her by surprise.
"Looks like our plans will have to be postponed. We have a new case," Erin said to Jay.

Here I am initiating the cliché note from the author/writer. I ship Linstead so much. I sort of know where I'm heading with this story. It won't be long one, I just felt like writing something. And since none of my friends watch CPD, I thought about Wattpad. If anyone ever wants to talk about the show #MessageMe. Can't wait for Wednesday's episode, there will be some Linstead scenes.
