I walked passed the graveyard. Taking a good look at the lost shadows. They are hidden still in the graveyard. There veins run cold. There hearts beat for nothing. They will never know what goes on in the world today. But they see you when you sleep.
You don't know how they feel. Until the darkness comes to you...
It came for someone I knew very well. Here is the story I am going to tell about it.
One morning full day, I walked with her in the lunch line. "Cheese Pizza." She said smiling at the lunch lady. As the lunch lady handed over pizza she felt a little bit dizzy. She grabbed the tray and walked away. When she tripped over the wire.
The wire clicked and the bomb quickly went off. The explosion took many. But they went to the light. The girl who tripped over the wire managed to live. She was still walking. Walking away from what she caused. You may say it was an accident. But why was there a bomb in the school. How come she was the one who set it off. How come she survived.
She stared at everything. The firetrucks came minutes later. Her life was forever changed and shortened. They took her away from the seen. The police asked if she knew who did it. She said "No." The same answer to many survivors.
She went home that day. A letter was on her doorstep. The ashes were concealed in the letter. It read:
I know what you did.
The girl was freaking out. She didn't do it. It was an accident. She didn't do it it was an accident. She didn't do it was an accident. She didn't do it, it was an acc-
"WHO ARE YOU!!! WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME!!!!" She screamed as she crumbled up the sheet of paper and threw it on the ground. She ran upstairs to her bedroom locked the door and tried to calm down.
"It was just a joke." She told herself. "The police would have arrested me. I mean it was an acc-"
She couldn't say the last word. She had hated everyone in her school. Was it really an accident?
She put her head down on her desk trying to think logically about her situation. It was hard. How would someone know she tripped over the wire. How.
Someone tapped her shoulder she looked behind her. No one was there. Impossible. A paper came sliding down through midair. She took it and read the paper. It read:
Will you please help me with something? I won't tell another living being what you did.
"WHO ARE YOU!" She cried. "WHAT DO YOU WANT! WHAT FAVOR DO YOU WANT ME TO DO!"
Another paper came. She took it. This time it read:
Kill the next man you see.
"NO! NO! NO! I NEVER MEANT TO KILL THOSE PEOPLE. STOP! PLEASE! I CAN'T DO THIS! IT'S WRONG!" she screamed.
If I could stop her from yelling I would. The more she shows her pain. The more closer she gets to the darkness.
Another paper. This is the last one she see's. The last writing she reads. I am sorry for her. But there is one more thing she reads. Her gravestone. As it is only so far away.
The paper read:
You can do it. Just grab the knife from your desk and kill him.
"What knife!" She called.
A sharp knife appeared on her desk. She stared at it. She walked around the room in panic. Was she insane? No. She was not insane. But normally mental.
She took the knife and left the house. She ran the streets. She ran past the graveyard. She ran passed the church. Passed the school. Then she ran into a man.
"Watch where you're going!" He said rudely.
She didn't know what to do. She was still. Cold blood ran through her veins. Kill the first man you see. That writing on paper. I won't tell.
She ran up to the old man with the knife and stabbed him in the back of the neck and ran some more. She had no idea where she was going. She just killed a man. She killed countless people that day. There were way too many thoughts going through her head.
She stopped to take a breathe. "THERE I DID IT!" She screamed. "I DID WHAT YOU WANTED! WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT!"
A shadow creeped from the ground. "Follow me." It said. "I will show you the way."
She was stupid enough to follow him. Why she followed him? Ignorance? She had no idea what he had in store.
"Are the person who gave me those letter" she asked. "Are you?"
"Yes." He answered. "Now I need you for one more thing."
"What is it?"
"Follow me and I will show you." he said. The shadow was wearing a dark cloak. It was covering his face. It was hiding its fears and worries. His woes. What was going on in his head. But the girl followed him. She was scared. But isn't everyone afraid of something?
She followed him for what felt like eternity but for thousands of miles but was only a few short seconds when they both fell through the ground.
She was falling through the air. It stung her it made her weak. S
She fell onto a table. There were shadows surrounding the table. All wearing the same cloak as the one that brought her here. They tied her to the table.
"This the initiation. From this day forward do you vow that you will honour me. Will you serve me?" The shadow leader said.
She didn't know what to say. She was chilled by the fact. Initiation? She never agreed to be part of some cult or clan or whatever. But she was afraid he would tell. Tell the world of what she had done. "Yes." she coughed up.
The leader got a knife and carved through her skin the words "Cultum." But she knew latin pretty well she learned it in school. "Cult!" She screamed. "I DON'T WANT TO BE PART OF YOUR CULT!" She screamed.
"Too late you agreed.: The Cult leader said. "Now I must take you to the place of death." He said.
She struggled as she was fighting away from him. It was too late they somehow ended up in the graveyard.
"How did we get here?" She asked.
"I will teach you if you swear to stay."
It took her awhile but she finally had the strength to say. "I will not kill another soul for you. I will not live for you. Go ahead tell the police what I did." She said.
"Very well, But I have to tell you the truth," the shadow said. "I was the one who set the bomb off, I was the one that killed the man. The man wronged me as well as you did. I tripped you at the school. Manipulating you it was your fault. I possessed you to kill the man." The shadow looked over to the left then back at the girl. "I knew you were to stupid to know before. The first word on every one of the letters. Think back."
The girl thought back to the letters:
I know what you did.
Will you please help me with something? I won't tell another living being what you did.
Kill the next man you see.
You can do it. Just grab the knife from your desk and kill him.
She made of it:
I will kill you.
Behind her. There was a gravestone with her name engraved in it. "Here lies Violet Rose." Under it was a hole in the ground with fire coming out of it. "NO!" She cried. She felt the darkness coming for her. She knew now that it was the end.
"Yes. Goodbye. I hope you learned from your ignorance and take those fears with you to the grave." And he pushed her into it.
She fell into darkness. She lives in a coffin. Violet Rose is my name. I walk past the graveyard to escape the lack of oxygen there is in it. I sleep there till the day I die.
