The greatest lie I've ever told

The greatest lie I've ever told

Was spoken when I was just eighteen years old

I thought it was the right thing to say

Even if it left everything we had this way

I hoped it would send you else where

My wish was granted, you weren't there

The greatest lie I've ever told

Came out in a tone so cold

I couldn't leave you wanting me

I should've thought twice about ending 'we'

You were broken in the blink of an eye

My heart lost in the bed where I lye

The greatest lie I've ever told

You heard it at eighteen years old

It was the worst thing you could hear

Your face full of the most genuine tears

You had hoped I'd still love you

And your wish was granted, I still do

The greatest lie I've ever told

Was spoken when I was just eighteen years old

Time has passed and I can hardly sleep

Everyday since, you can hear me weep

You'll find someone better for you

I'll hope and pray, because I love you
