It was a beautiful day outside. Not just a nice day. A beautiful day. The day I started my junior year at high school. I hate school. Between you and me, there's always that one teacher who just ruins everything - for me it would be the language arts teacher. Every year they get worse. This year would be the worst year of all - I have Count Crapula. She's a horrible hag who hates children. But anyway, back to school. My alarm forces me to wake up and I get prepared and all that stuff. I head downstairs to see the usual sight: my mom making breakfast and my dad and sister at the table. I take my place at the table, stuff whatever I can into my mouth, kiss my parents goodbye, and walk to school. Before I know it we are at school. With a sigh, I walk into the office and collect my schedule, and I groan. I have Count Crapula first thing in the morning. Wow. My luck is already amazing. As I turn the corner, I bump into my best friend, Jess. After a hug that might as well have cracked my ribs, she says:
"Gem! I have soo much to tell you"! she exclaims.
Jess and I are very different in personality and looks. While she has long curly, hazel hair, I have short wavy, red hair. Jess Is tall while I am at least an inch shorter than her. Jess has always been outgoing, I have always been shy. But somehow, we get along just right.
"Jess! Just the person I'v been looking for!"
After that we delve into a long conversation. Mostly stuff about summer, schedules, boys, gossip, etc. After we break off to go to our classes, I see him. Nick Davis. The most popular kid in the school. Also my other best friend. Nick has always shoved his attention away, because he would rather spend time with his friends. I admire him for that. As I near him, I notice a lot of new things. One being how...cute Nick is. What am I saying? He's my friend, nothing more. Anyways, Nick and I start talking about summer, Count Crapula, and more until it is time to face Language Arts.
I already have a feeling this will go terribly wrong.
