So yes I stole a diary but I can explain! You see... The world is ending.

Now wait a minute, that's not a good excuse for stealing this notebook! Surely someone else would love to write about their experiences before a zombie comes along and eats them. Well... Too bad. Anyway, I don't really care at this point. We are all going to die sooner or later. This is zombies! The real deal! The whole I'm-going-to-eat-your-brains load of crap everyone joked about, not really taking it seriously. It's like they say, nothing is reality... until it is.

Okay thats not what they say but who cares? They're dead anyway. Or will be.

Anyway I'm Alicia Clark. If, by some miracle, the humans get their shit together and one day, like, five gazillion years in the future, someone happens to be writing a history book, I sincerely hope this will be helpful.

But let's be honest, it won't be.

This is my story. Something to do while I hide away and try to last long enough. Don't ask what "long enough" is because I have no answer.

For the record, the zombie universe, not all that different from yesterday's universe. Cars are still going, people still suck, phones are all anyone cares about. It's still our world...

But there are now walking dead people!

Anyway, I'm off track again.

So today I was running through town, my skinny legs pumping with all their might and my beat up sneakers hitting the pavement hard, when low and behold... I almost died.

Yep, today I had a near death experience... And I have to admit, kind of liked it. Not because I, being the clumsy person I am, tripped and fell and happened to fall into a car with a zombie on the other side. Not because zombies are faster than I imagined and have no regards for window maintenance. But because a woman, with a pistol and a shotgun, shoots the little shit behind me.

Now I'm ready to thank this woman but then she has to ruin everything and open her mouth.

"Next time watch out behind you! I may not be there to save you ass again princess."

The nerve of her! I am no princess! Yes she saved my life, yes I should've been more aware, but did she have to be snarky and arrogant? No!

But holy hell she was hot.

I'm talking black leather jacket, black tank top and jeans. Something staining her clothing which was probably the blood of her enemies. A tattoo on her collarbone peaking out from underneath her jacket. Something smudged over her eyes that reminded me of warpaint. Extremely messy and dirty hair as gold as the sun. Well... I'm assuming I mean it was cakes in blood and dirt.

But her eyes. Her glorious eyes that were sky blue. She might as well have fallen from the sky.

I opened and closed my mouth like an idiot before a smirk slid across her dry lips.

And then she said, "What's your name anyway? No wait! Don't tell me." She looked at me for a few moments. Her eyes dragging up and down my body, evaluating me.

"I like your mystery. And I like the fire I see in your eyes." She whistles loudly and I can hear the approaching gallop of a horse. "I hope I see you again some time beautiful." She grins and winks before mounting her horse and taking off.

"I didn't get your name!" I shouted toward her retreating form.

Thankfully her voice was loud enough for me to catch the few words she hollered.

"Elyza. Elyza Lex."
